Hey guys,
I am new to the forums and need to vent a little so here we go. I love the sport of boxing and besides football is my fav sport to watch. I order the PPV fight Judah VS Mayweather, I been looking forward this fight for the last four years. I wasn't going for either fighter just wanted to enjoy a great boxing match.
HBO brings the best fights but I am sick and tired of them favoring their fighters and calling the fight more towards their fighter. A few years ago they did this big with DE la Hoya and with Roy Jones.
Saturday even before the bell have rang they were already knocking Judah and taking cheap shots.
All fight long they were calling the fight one sided and taking cheap shot after shot on Judah and this is way before the 10 round fiasco. There have been times in the past that they make it seem their fighter have won the round and when you watch it again with no audio its completely different you guys should try this is unbelievable this guys at HBO.
Larry Merchant is a piece of s h i t with his cheap shots. I remember I saw a Trinidad fight and he praise him like he was god him self(VS Mayorga). Then Felix Trinidad loses the next fight (winky) and talks about him like his garbage and a nobody. The guy is unbelievable, also Jim Lampley calling the fight one sided towards Mayweather and instigated the Low blow like crazy, i thought they were very unprofessional the way they calling the fights always one sided towards the HBO fighter and i just had about enough.
I must say lenox lewis did a ok job but it was funny how they try to persue him to say bad things about judah u guys should watch it again is unbelievable.
I do miss George Foreman he was the only real commentator thats why they got rid of him cause he spoke his mind and they cover it up making it all sound like it was George decision to leave.
Anyways SHAME ON YOU HBO!!!!! I am very disappointed.

they do all often favor fighters and it shows in the calling the fight but in this case they were right. judah didnt deserve this fight at all
I see your point, but surely you must admit it is kind of unreasonable to expect them not to get into the fights. They have the best job in the world.
Farhood did the same thing on Showtime showing his favoritism towards Diego.
True. I bet they are fans too. Probably hard to seperate being fans from proffesionals but if they aint a fan of your fighter, or rather, prefer another fighter over yours, it sucks hearing the play by play/commentary cause you see all the missed calls and bull shit ones.

I wish HBO had Corrales. I guarantee Lampley is a big Corrales fan. He likes Vargas and Gatti. Why not like a fighter that's p4p better than either of them in Corrales?
False. They always mention Gatti's drawbacks and then go on to say that's what makes him so good (wacthable).
Yeah, but when I hear Lampley comment something like " Gatti is the only true warrior the sport has today" or something really close to that effect, he is placing some favoritism there. That is the comment that really got my attention. I think it was in the fight againts Daamgard he said that. The sport has many true warriors not just Gatti.
Gatti has to be HBO's all time favorite fighter. I have never seen any commentator question Gatti's abilities. When he got schooled by PBF they were still praising him. When he fought Daamgard they were talking about him like he was God or something.

i honestly think id make a good commentator. id love to do the color, and i can put away my bias when it comes to judging fights. problem is, id probably get fired for speaking my mind, kinda like roy jones did

That's because at that time Roy and De La Hoya were dominating.
those guys are full of sh!t sometimes and they showed it on saturday. whenever zab would land a clean shot they would say that PBF came back with a hard sot of his own even if when it didnt land. i dont know maybe it looks diffrent in person
larry merchant can go to hell with gasoline draws on,I don't know what happen to jim lapley he used to be fair, as for Emanual Steward when they listed the top ten fighters in the world at the end of 2004, in the ring magazine, he said that Erik Morales is'nt consistant enough for him to be in the top ten
Yeah, I wonder how much of an impact they have on the judges. Not the commentators but HBO in general on picking and swaying judges. While I had PBF winning the fight I was surprised that one judge had only given Zab 1 round scoring it 119-109 when it was pretty clear that Zab won at the very minimum of 2 rounds, I had Zab wining 4 rounds.
I wanted to shut Merchant up last saturday. Completely biased commentary, but I have always been keen to it ever since they called Pac/Morales I and II and noticed they were totally favoring Morales. Never really payed attention to it but completely realize how biased they can be. Last Sat. was a good example of just making the fight look totally lopsided. From the begining of the 5th they were talking like the fight was over and PBF already won.
HBO commentary is a comedy, I actually listen in to what they have to say in much more often than Showtime because of how hilarious it is. When they had Roy Jones Jr., that was just classic, good times. Showtime commentary is a lot better. I personally think that HBO should get rid of all their commentators and start from scratch, but then again they are in the business of making money so the way they pump up their fighters is in a way natural.
I am with you guys on this one, zab had a good run but only got credit from lenox. At the end of the night may adjusted and showed why he is numner 1. I dont know what happend to zab, he did not adjust and did not use his speed after the 5th round.
They are some whining Nuthuggers at times.Thats why I liked Big Geaorge and Roy they used to kind of put Lamps or Larry in their place when they were huggin easpecially Big George. Is it me or has Lamps been dropping off the last year or so.....Constantly saying left by so and so and it was either the wrong guy or it was a right or whatever , he just seems to be not calling as accurately as he once did. :boxing:
I tend not to like TV commentators in general. For baseball or football games I turn on the TV, put it on mute and tune my radio to the appropriate station.
Yeah, they called it pretty one sided. I had Mayweather winning and especially after the first 5 rounds but he probably lost 3 out of the first 4 rounds. With only Lennox really giving Zab credit. I think Zab came in at 100% and did the best he could do, but Mayweather came in at 100% also and PBF at 100% is A+. They didnt give Zab enough credit for bringing his A-game.
its not giving credit bro, its being a prostitute...bias is not the word.......its really disgusting actually when you listen to it...I was rooting for Mayweather, but I wasn't all that impressed at all!...
