Mayweather was composed during the whole situation. Judah tried to run after someone and swing after landing 2 illegal blows. They did the right thing by kicking Roger out and letting the fight continue. The altercation helped Judah take a break from the beating he was receiving. It helped him more than it did for Floyd. Everyone knows that Judah can't beat Floyd so why give him a loss. Judah is done.
Can they DQ PBF, Yes. Do they have enough cause to DQ PBF, Yes. Should they DQ PBF, NO!
Instead of debating wether they can I think they should starting asking themselves if the SHOULD. The Nevada Boxing commision has to really think about the sport of boxing before they make a decision here. I think a DQ for PBF would be a huge step back for the sport in general.
Floyd never said rog would storm the ring if Zab pulled something dirty, he said rog told him he would try something dirty after gettin served for a few rounds, his post fight is on boxintalk answering that question
Thats not true, there is no automatic dq for entering the ring in Nevada, its completely up to the ref, matter a fact it was in Espn article, they were talking about that meaning Steele and one of the official of the Nevada commision.
It is the refs job to DQ Mayweather. This can't be overturned now. It had no effect on the outcome of the fight. Some may make the case of Roger choking Zab but, it was ZAB that went after Roger. Roger stepped in the ring. Ref Steele stopped him. Yoel Judah went after Roger and actually swung. AND ZAB WENT AFTER ROGER. And in one of the replays that was shown you can hear Zab say "What's up then?" when his father approaches Roger. This is when he went after Roger.
I love TiVo!
I don't know what the fuck Roger was thinking, that was some bullshit he pulled. The fouls did look intentional and they were pretty bad, but you can't do that shit. According to my understanding of the rules, Floyed probably should be DQ'd technically, but I would hate to see that. Besides, in a way it was the most exciting part of the night.
It was not like that Floyd was in trouble and Roger stepped in to rescue him. Judah did a bad foul (I thought both, the low blow and the punch behind the head, were intentional) and Floyd stumbled to a neutral corner when Roger entered the ring and started the riot. It was bullshit by Roger and he should be fined and such things but Floyd was probably the only man in the ring who keept it cool and showed sportmanship. So if you would disqualifie him, you would disqualifie the only person who did the right thing. Don't believe this should happen, just let it how it is.
If you guys know that every sanction has different rules, that sanction stipulates that the ref has the total authority to either disqualify or let it go on.. Its his descision.
This will be an interesting situation if the fight is overturned well after the fight ends.
If this fight does get overturned later in the week, there will lawsuit after lawsuit and it will take a year to figure out who won.
Does anybody remember how long it took for Lennox Lewis to eventually lose his appeal to have his draw with Holy turned into a win?
going by my example below YES
1996-11-22 Junior Jones VS MAB
Ice Palace, Tampa, FL, USA
Time: 2:59 | Referee: Max Parker Jr. |
~ WBO Super Bantamweight Title ~
Barrera down twice in 5th and DQ'd when his corner enters the ring.
L DQ 5 12
good point. but i really didnt want to see something like that happen.
if the riot wasn't under control then i would agree with a DQ or NC
a NC would be fair, in another article i heard that they wont overturn the UD to a DQ loss cause so manny winnign tickets have been cashed, well they overturned james toney's win over ruiz to a NC cause of steroids and winnign tickets had been cashed for that fight already, i feel a NC is fair so as not to ruin floyds record even though he shoulda been DQ'd anyway u look at it
Mayweather should have been DQ if boxing rules were being followed.
According to Boxing Rules for this fight sanctioned in the State of Nevada when the fighter has a third man in the ring before the round is complete that fighter is automatically disqualified.
The State of Nevada is liable for not overturning the UD given to Mayweather. A "No Contest" may be able acceptable due to all of the cicumstances surrounding this incident.
The "fair" outcome was the UD in favor of Mayweather- he clearly won. However if the rules of boxing can be broken and not followed for the sake of fairness than get rid of the rules.
After the fight, the purses were suspended by Skip Avensino, the chairman of the Nevada State Athletic Commission, until videotape of the skirmish could be reviewed. Don King, Judah's promoter, intended to protest the results and urge a disqualification for Mayweather because of the actions of his uncle and trainer, Roger Mayweather, who jumped into the ring first.
"The fight was over when Roger Mayweather went onto the apron and into the ring," King said. "It was a total disqualification. The fighter had a third man in the ring. No matter how you look at it, the fighter is disqualified."
Floyd Mayweather was well on his way to a win on points before Judah sent Mayweather to the canvas with a left hook to Mayweather's groin and a right to the back of his head. Roger Mayweather, a former 140-pound fighter, crossed the ropes and attempted to challenge Judah, and members of both fighters' corners followed for several moments of chaos.
After the fight, King even showed a photograph of someone's hands around Judah's neck in the melee -- and King claimed it was Roger Mayweather.
wow...the Floyd haters come out
Not a Floyd hater, just making a couple of observations about the fight, actually my e-point bets were in favor of PBF.
No.Zab should have been disqualified earlier for the lowblow and head punch.I have no idea what Richard Steele was doing the entire night
opposite of what he said. i could see saying take 1 point away for the low blow-MAYBE. but the head punch, im not blaming mayweather, but he turned on him.
maywather should have probably had at least a point taken away.
It surely should have been a DQ... Once someone is on the apron during a round, it's done... The mayweather camp not only did that, they started a frickin' riot... How many boxers have gotten low blows, took it, and went on... not the mayweather camp. They storm the ring. It was rediculous. Things like that are why boxing can't pull itself out of the mud... Mayweather should be stripped of the worthless IBF title belt, and a rematch should be put on... As soon as possible. I gotta say, I really wanted to see Zab end Cry Baby Floyds little streak. Not that I have any more respect for Zab, after his little tantrum after the Tszyu fight in 2001. Either way, I am sure there will be a rematch, but I think the comission should strip Mayweather of the title. His camp put a whole lot of people in danger by the stunt they pulled.
