If Jermain knocks Winky out, or wins by a clear cut decesion, is he the number 1 p4p star? He beat Hopkins twice (contraversial, especially the 1st one), the former p4p king, and if he beats Winky, he'll be beating the #2 p4p star in most peoples eyes. I believe he very well can be considered that because Mayweather is taking really shitty fights recently, while Taylor is taking the toughest fights in front of him.
I think the problem with Wright fans is they see him outbox guys like Mosley, Trinidad, and Soliman with ease and think he's an incredible fighter. He's very good at what he does, but he will lose to a boxer/puncher of Taylor's caliber. Wright is going to be the smaller man for the first time in a LOOOONG time. The reason he dominated Mosley so easily was because Mosley was so fucking small next to him. And Taylor is a much better fighter than Mosley. The only advantage Wright has in this fight is experience, but I don't think that's enough to just step up and beat a guy like Taylor. Remember, Wright won't even be able to hurt him, so Taylor will not fight half as cautious as he did against Hopkins. Taylor will go for the knockout.
I think like Hopkins, Winky will also be exposed in this fight. Hopkins had a long stretch of fighting B level and smaller guys i.e. Trinidad, ODLH.
Winky's only significant wins were versus Shane Mosley a former lightweight and Trinidad a former welterweight who himself never had win versus a real middle weight (Joppy and Mayorga).
I think Winky will be overwhelmed by a natural middle weight and fight very defensively and lose by UD. If he tries to actually open it up he will get KO'd.
I also agree with whoever said that Taylor was a sloppy fighter. He tends to lounge and is clearly off balance when he misses. He also doesnt follow up with lefts when he throws his trade mark right due to his lack of balance (look at the Taylor vs Hopkin fights and even early rounds of the Joppy fight when Joppy was actually fighting back). Taylor is raw and I think he will get better but right now he is pretty sloppy but physically gifted enough to win versus Winky.
this could either be a good fight, or a boring one. im still going to watch it regardless, im picking winky to win by UD even though im from arkansas lol
Who cares if he stopped them...
wouldn't you say that Hopkins outboxed Trinidad? How does stopping someone negate the fact that you may have been outboxing them the whole fight?
Outboxing doesn't only mean getting up on your toes and jabbing someone to death.
exactly..............
yeah and Mosley TKO'ed all of them. I asked who he outboxed. he didn't outbox Vargas either, he was just outslugging him

He outboxed them en route to stopping them.
Vargas,Philip Holiday,Jesse james Leija,Shannon Taylor they are all good fighters.

I think this fight will come down to who finishes the exchanges. We know Wright will probably put a lot of effective pressure on Jermain. Whoever punctuates the exchanges in close will win.
I don't see either guy being knocked out. If Taylor can take that right hand in my sig from Hop he can take whatever Winky throws his way.
yeah, we aren't really discussing that. I'm just waiting for you to name a good fighter Mosley outboxed.

I am not saying he could beat taylor because I don't think he could I just don't think Taylor is a better boxer than Mosley.I suppose it is a matter of opinion.

I agree with everything you wrote. Taylor will not fight as cautious as he did Hopkins and will continue to be busier than Wright. Remember wright's so in love with his defense that he doesn't throw enough punches at times. Soliman created the game plan on how to beat wright and with taylor being a better boxer puncher than soliman, wright will not look as he has in his previous fights.
Also, remember what Forrest did to Mosley. Forrest was a boxer/puncher. And Taylor is too.
I am not saying he could beat taylor because I don't think he could I just don't think Taylor is a better boxer than Mosley.I suppose it is a matter of opinion.
No, Mosley was a very good slugger at 135. He was a tough cookie at 147 and still a pretty good slugger. He has never been a great boxer. Watch either fight with De La Hoya and tell me Mosley can box. He can bang, not box. There is a difference.
He can Box very well IMO, so yes I disagree with you.
He is bigger but I would not say better.Mosley is a very good boxer he just went too far up in weight.
