Does anyone really want to see a rematch? This fight wasn't all that exciting. They can move on to their next fights.
i dont wanna see this shit again, I would prefer Rahman Maskaev over this shit anyday...
ur one of the people who forget that fights are scored by effective aggressiveness, clean punching, defense, and ring generalship.
EA: rahman
CP: both
D: toney
RG: both
its a fair decision.
i agree with everything u said except that rahman dictated the pace of the fight without quesion. toney probably had the cleaner punches...so i could see a draw. i dont like the decision, bc i feel the hw division needs a winner in order to progress to the division it once was
Cant wait till April 8 to watch Mayweather and forget this one.
I kept thinking the same thing throughout the fight every time the advertisement for PBF/Zab popped up on the bottom of the screen.
Rahman won
Rock won the fight fairly easily. He got robbed just like the 2nd Tua fight. Its a damn shame really. He fought a very good fight for the most part. He didnt hit Toney with any clean hard shots, but who does? Honestly just about the only way you will beat Toney is out working him. Throwing punches consistenly even if they dont hit at a high percentage, just like the Jirov fight. Also Rock wasnt able to throw his right as much because he knew Toney was waiting with a counter right. That was his money shot for the most part. The weight looked to be a small problem with Toney eventhough he was still slick with his punches and did enough to win 4 rounds, however thats not enough to win the fight. I had it Rock 7-4 with one round even.
I had Rahman winning by 2rds , Rahman is lucky he was in the ring with pillow fist Toney , with the shots he was hit with V,Klit would have KOed Rahman with in a few rounds !
I had it a draw. I'm glad Toney didn't take Rahman's belt because it was a lazy effort. On the other hand, unless you love pitter pat, I didn't see Rahman doing much in the way of effective aggresion.
Rahman seemed delighted that he didn't lose.
Not really. This is simple. Rahman is used to getting fucked over. Did you see his face when they announced the first score to him by name? He knew right there that he got fucked and had accepted it by the post-fight interview time. He's bankrupt and why not get another nice payday with a no-risk, light-punching, overweight contender named James Toney? That's why he didn't act outraged-- he'd like nothing better than to fight Toney again, rather than Brewster, Wlad, Valuev, ...even Maskaev.
even though it is also obvious that rahman was part of the fix, he should never give fat ass toney a rematch........he won clearly and that's all that matters...just because those official corrupt judges scored it differently, it doesn't mean the division isn't a lot clearer now!...
fat ass toney is out !
i, as many people have, rahman ahead on points.
there were a few rounds that were close, but overall i felt rahman deserved to get the decision.
and why the hell did rahman follow toney to the ropes as much as he did? he should have taken advantage of the natural size and power he had by punching toney across the ring from the middle. not following him to the ropes or fighting "phonebooth style" which toney is very comfortable and skilled with.
rahman didn't fight the smartest fight that he could've. however, i was slightly impressed by his overall workrate.
Rahman threw 300 more punches, that's right 300 more punches. is there any need for further explanation on why he should have won? bullshit decision, and i'm a Toney fan, but he got his ass kicked tonight, he's lucky he has a granite chin, probably the best chin of all time.
u dont need a chin if the other guy isnt throwing anything meaningfull....
I had it around a draw i can't really argue with the judge's decision i totally disagree with Harold Lederman though, Rahman threw a lot more but it was decieving, Toney had a handle on that fight. He should have made it more obvious though.
Tough fight to call, along the lines of the Toney Jirov fight.
Like Jirov, Rock was busier, but Toney was landing the crisper cleaner shots.
Rahman seemed delighted that he didn't lose.
I just hope this will put to rest the James Toney fantasy that all these guys are hanging onto. No steroids this time, and he had nothing at the end, was in terrible shape, no balance, just winging wild punches. Any of the top HW's would have owned his ass tonight- Byrd, Wlad, Brewster, Brock, etc.
Well put. Now its gonna be the what ifs. IE what if Toney came in at 215.

he only landed like 20 more punches though and most of those were jabs. toney landed the cleaner more effective punches
rahman won the fight no doubt about it, but I mean rock why couldnt u throw the right hand more especially after u saw the first solid right handed hurt toney. both of these guys will get torn up by wladimir klitschko. Im just so dissapointed cause I thought rahman won so the division would be clearer and we could seen rahman vs klitschko but that looks distant now. Vitali Klitschko should have never retired...
