Which was the bigger beat down?

I remember it was Gatti's corner that stopped the fight not gatti himself, he even asked buddy if he could go 1 more round. I say PBF-Gatti was worse b/c it was stopped. I read this response after I posted, I completely agree.

For that same reason i would say it was Gatti vs Mayweather. Mayweather beat Gatti so bad he bitched out after 6 whereas Lacy took his 12 round beating like a man. Did you really see the Gatti fight? Gatti might have been stupid for it but he wanted to fight, afterall he was reigning champ..his corner told him his eye closed and stopped it. I'm not Gatti's biggest fan but he's not a bitch that's for sure :cool: Lacy did take a beating which was impressive he didn't collapse under himself

Good point......It sure showed Lacy has heart,courage and a good chin but I was hoping for him to prove that in a gutsy victory not a one sided beating.

Mayweather punished Gatti for a couple of rounds. Jeff got whipped for 12, but not as bad as Gatti because Joe was holding when he wasn't throwing. Gatti never held he just took the punishment. I say they both took an even ass whippin but, I felt bad for Gatti and worst for Lacy. He looked so helpless and beatup.

I'd go with Pac-Barrera since Hopkins, Wright & Calzaghe aren't power punchers on their divisions. Calzaghe not a power puncher? Maybe not in Lacy's league but ask his 31 KO victims (thats 9 more than Lacy has had fights) if he can punch! I think the Calzaghe - Lacy was the biggest beat down of recent times simply becuase it was so unexpected, Lacy, Lacy's fans and Lacy's team thought this would be a straight forward yet tricky nights work, they did not expect that!

Lacy should never have seen the final bell, i would not be surprised if you never here from him again because of that fact. Gatti could fight another day cos his corner showed some humanity

The beating that Calzaghe gave Lacy was bad and like one person said it was a little worse cuz it was unexpected.I have to say that since the fight was stopped and PBF looked so brillant that it was a worst beating.Still very close pick for me.

they were equally bad, but Lacy was allowed to go on because of the whole "one punch can change a fight" thinking, which i agree with. a decision loss is always better than a tko loss. Only on the record is it better. It's much better, and safer for a fighter to get out of a losing effort with minimal damage. McGirt did the right thing, Birmingham did not.

I would say that the Lacy beating was worse, mostly because it wasn't expected. Everyone knew that Floyd would massacre Gatti. No one predicted a 12 round, one-sided beating in favor of Calzaghe.

It depends on how you're asking the question. Which was worse in terms of damage taken physically? Or which was more embarassing? Damage taken is obviously the Lacy-Calazghe fight, simply because it went on twice as long. Embarassing factor, Mayweather-Gatti. Not only was Gatti destroyed, but it was stopped. At least Jeff can say he went the distance. i think lacy was getting his ass beat enough for the fight to be stopped I figured it would be stopped in the 7th, I think it was. Calzaghe had him in the corner, and caught him flush on the chin, and you could see Lacy stop and fall back a bit. I thought it was gonna get called right there.

floyds beat down of gatti was so bad that they had to stop the fight. jeff was just hanging by a thread and was able to go the distance

Both were bead and I remember thinking around 6-7 that I was hoping the fight would be stopped. I think his corner had multiple chances to throw in the towel or get up on the apron for a DQ loss to save their fighter and they didn't do it

i think the opposite. i think it was worse because it went 12 rounds. a 12 round beating is worse than the fight getting stopped, IMO. because if it's stopped then the beating stops, Lacy took 6 more rounds of an ass whoopin...... exactly what i was gonna say, lacy got a 12 round ass kicking and gatti got his ass kicked in 6. you do the math :cool:
