Lacy threw wide looping punches, and usually 1 punch at a time. Calzaghe threw short, fast combinations. Lacy didn't reposition himself after throwing punches, whereas Calzaghe stepped to the side of Lacy after throwing combinations. Lacy didn't modify his strategy, tried the same thing over and over for 12 rounds. Also, Lacy wore the Apollo Cree shorts to the fight. The main thing was probably Calzaghe's speed and timing that threw Lacy off.
joe fought the perfect fight and lacy fought a stupid fight. props to joe, but that was not the jeff lacy that im used to seeing. i was very dissapointed
lacys trainer was terrible, he should have worked with the jab, then threw combinations to the body. instead of throwing one punch that misses by 5 feet to the head.
His trainer was telling him to throw the jab, shorten up his punches and throw combinations. Lacy is the one who didn't do it.
lacy should've worked behind a jab, gone to the body all night long, he should've thrown punches at Calzaghe's shoulders instead of his head, and most important he should've let his hands go and go all out in a fight like that.
he did no work on the inside even when his hands were free, he followed Calzaghe without cutting off the ring. i guess it doesn't matter if he were to cut off the ring cause he never threw a punch!
i think he froze up and got too much into his head. if he had a plan he took a shit on it thats for sure.........
BUT Calzaghe fought the perfect fight, lighting quick combos, good foot work, tied up at the right times, he never let Lacy get anything off because he was too busy fending off Calzaghe.
this fight was the best domination over another fighter that i've seen, better than Winky's shut out over Tito.....
definitely

lacy doesn't have a jab though, ne really needs to work on his all round boxing skills this tiem around if he wants to get better. He will though he'll be back and this will make him better for it.

Lazy did what he always does I've seen him throw that hook over the top evertime and miss wild but last night is the only instance where the other man had an answer for it. He had no combos in the fight either and if he could have fainted with that left and just come up with an uppercut when joe had already been ducking it would have worked to his advantage. Joe studied that left hook and lacy was telegraphing like all hell last night.
Lacy choked IMO. He thought he could KO Calzaghe. And know what, mentally I don't think Lacy was there. That's how turf/crowd factor works. If this fight was in America, Lacy would have more bigger mentality from support of Americans. Not meant to make excuse fo Lacy, but that's how I feel.

bullshit........the guy did nothing wrong, he went there to fight and got beaten by a better man on the night.....
lacy is only human and is not perfect.....credit to him for going over there and for being a warrior....lacy will be back!
there are many things Lacy did wrong and many things Joe did correctly....
in response to Lacy not repositioning himself...he did, but everytime he DID, Joe popped him with a jab or left hand and kept Lacy off balanced
