Man, is it just me or does this fight seem to be more of a circus show than anything else???....I feel that De La Hoya has picked an easy opponent that has really nothing to lose so he can jump and possibly fight Mayweather for a HUUUGGEEE payday and then end his career. Very smart move, but I'm definately not interested in buying the PPV event or a ticket for that matter. I believe that the fans would rather see him duke it out with Vargas again but obviously that would not be smart for him. Not really interested in what the outcome of that fight is...
Lacy to KO Joe 8th rd...
At this stage of his career, I would say that Oscar couldn't outbox Mayorga like Spinks did. Spinks ran like a bitch most of the night but it obviously worked. I don't think Oscar has the legs for that plus I think he'd be more inclined to want to trade with Ricardo like Trinidad did and I don't think that would end well for Oscar
I am interested in seeing how the layoff has treated DLH. It might of help but we won't know until they fight. He also has been to busy promoting these days. I would just like to watch to see where DLH is.
obviously dlh's skills, level of opposition, and boxing prowess are on a higher level than the balsy mayorga
howeer dlh 20 month layoff of fine dining and silk sheets seem may become an intangible if mayorga connects with one of his deviant power shots
this mayorga fan- (only because he reminds me of a bar fighter) till thinks dlh will win by decision or late tko
I disagree about the Hopkins fight. I don't think he was carrying 160 well and thats why the body shot knocked him out. I think that while it was a good shot, his conditioning played a part int he knockout. I did have him up in the fight though when the KO happened
How about the Gatti fight? Your boy got whooped. Thats wats gonna happend to Mayorga.
What does that have to do with anything that we are talking about?
THat may be true but look at the Trinidad fight, the Mosley fight, the Sturm fight, the Hopkins fight....
Just to play devil's advocate:
Vs Tito, it's understandable that Oscar got tired. Oscar danced a LOT.
He possibly overtrained vs Mosley. I mean, he was RIPPED for him. Plus, let's be honest...both men were somewhat wore out and DLH took a LOT of clean shots.
Vs Sturm, DLH was BLATANTLY and OBVIOUSLY out of shape.
Vs Hopkins, I think you're just plain wrong. No significant fatigue was shwon in that fight.
This myth that Oscar just magically loses stamina for no reason is just that...a myth.
I'm not that excited about this fight either. As a boxing fan, I'll watch it but I'm not shelling out the $50 to watch it at home. This fight is on the same level as the Mayweather-Judah fight. The only way Judah or Mayorga will win is with haymaker from hell otherwise they'll both be outclassed in their fights. I'm disappointed that Goldy isn't fighting a bigger name to solidify his career. Hopefully he is sincere about taking on Mayweather for his last fight, in that case I can see why he is taking this tune-up fight (while adding a paper title).
Who was the stronger fighter in the late rounds of those fights?
Quartey was the stronger dude. LOL.

Besides when he took the fall against Hopkins when has De La Hoya even been knocked down? I dont see Mayorga being able to do anything. The guy has had one win against a legit contender in vernon forrest (I think he got a gift decisian in the rematch). He may make for some exciting spots but thats it. Oscar stops him late.
he got kd agaisnt quartey
If Mayorga gets drunk before the fight than this could be a fight of the year candidate. Or not.
Mayorga should definitely get drunk before this fight. It will be like Mayorga-Spinks only more obvious when DLH wins. Mayorga is gonna chase him around and taunt him and let DLH have free shots in order to maintain his marketability, but Mayorga will lose this fight by wide margins on the cards.
Unless of course he lands a good left hook to DLH's arm. I'm anxious to see if DLH always goes down to arm punches or if he faked it against Hop-Town
