I'm tired of him telling every fighter who loses to retire. "Is this the last of..... "
He asks everyone that. Just because someone isn't an elite fighter doesn't mean they should retire. I was a pro boxer from age 17-19, and my record was 2-6.
I am 22 now, and when I get back home I will still fight for money. To some people fighting is a job, Larry doesn't realize that.
What did this Japanese chick say at the end of this clip?

i dunno what she says all i know is that she has great tits!!
also Merchant is a prick, sometimes he right and others he's wrong. i like him better than jim grey. but i was thinking a 2-6 record shouldn't you think about retiring? thats what larry would say at least.
Larry can work on your nerves, but I can deal with it. Just be glad Harold Lederman doesn't do the color commentary. If that was the case you'd be beggin' for Merchant to come back.
i thought vargas was way too slow, there where time when he coulda landed his right hand but instead decided to clinch. vargas is still young but he doesnt look fresh anymore, why didnt he let his hands go in the last rounds?
True, but for financially secure pugs like Fernando Vargas, Mark Johnson, Roy Jones, and everyone else he suggests retirement to, their jobs are primarily to secure their places in history. They are not journeymen trying to supplement their jobs as electricians, they are high class athletes who haved done enough for the sport to not have to suffer the indignity of having the sport abuse them past their primes.
vargas has a lot left, he fought well against mosley
Ha! So which word is pussy in Japanese? And which one is for Homosexual?
pussy is omanko. And homosexual is okama. Kintama is balls. Oshiti is asshole. You can say some funny shit. Kintama kyuwi means my balls are itchy. Omanko genki-diska means How is your pussy? Watashi Hapa dyske means I really like marijuana. :boxing:
No it's not! (I have no idea what you just gibbered ;) )
You know I think you're cool, so I'm gonna tell you what I said. I said: My opinion is right, whilst yours is shut up you homosexual, stupid pussy. I'm fucking with you, you mad cool peoples.
Well....we all have our opinions. But mine is right whilst yours is "mali". ;)
You know, you have a point there, we really do all have our own opinions. I gotta give you credit with that one. You're bilingual? Me, I speak spanish and japanese as well. Here's my spin: My opinion is right, whilst yours is damare kono okama, tako omanko.
They need to get British commentators on HBO. James Brown was at a loss for words most of the night. Larry is his usual drunk ass self. Manny Steward is fine...but he lets the other bozos talk too damn much. And Jim Lampley....I hate his voice. He seems to have a favorite fighter to comment the action on and ignores a lot of the other fighter's punches.
You have a point there, although I don't know how long I can listen to a british accent on a boxing card. I have nothing against British people, but its just not me. I think Lampley does ignore some of the other guys blows. In the Clinton Woods fight, I think Jones was stunned by a counter left hook, and Lampley didn't say a damn thing for 10 seconds. Manny Steward is, sadly, much better at announcing than Big George. But I love George, he is one of the greatest personalities in boxing history. :boxing:
I dunno, I love Larry Merchant. He speaks slowly for dramatic effect, and to get the right words out. Him and Jim Lampley is the best sports announcer combo I ever saw. And yes, Jim Lampley is better than Howard Cossell, at boxing atleast. Cossell was a better announcer at other sports to me. Larry Merchant is my favorite quotable sports announcer ever. I never miss an HBO card because of Lampley and Merchant, they are greats. :boxing:
