Why doesnt this trilogy get more recognition then the Ali vs Frazier tilogy..........the Bowe Holyfield trilogy had the better fights but yet doesnt even get talked about as one of the great trilogies of all time......any thoughts?
They made Bowe.
Holyfield had wins over other top ranked heavyweights of his time. The Tyson fight is what made people rank him much higher all-time.
True, but the Tyson - Holyfield fight was so antcipated because of his other achievments, especially his fights with Bowe.
I always thought the Holyfield - Bowe fights were highly regarded as a modern day classic heavyweight trilogy?

If Holyfield would have finished off Bowe in the 6th round of their third fight (when Holy came back from the brink and had Bowe down for the first time in his career) and ended up winning by TKO, then I think that would have made a better case for the trilogy being greater than Ali-Frazier.
Wow, I have never heard of anyone calling the fights between Ali and farzier "not interesting". The Holyfield/ Bowe were great fights no doubt, but I'm a purist and Ali/Frazier were at a much higher level of skill. If you like two bangers then I guess I see where Holyfield/Bowe were more "interesting".
Holyfield and Bowe showed a lot of skill too.
Bowe's infighting was top notch, and Holyfield was no slouch in that department either. Holyfield's combos were excellent too, and his very good boxing ability helped him eke out a close win in the rematch.
Muhammad Ali is one on the best and greatest boxers of all times, but to me his fights are not really interesting to watch. Bowe's and Holyfield's styles are more interesting and exciting to see than Ali's and Frazier's, in my honest opinion.
But their trilogy is legendary due to its historical background and mythological character.

no way any of those fight compare to the thrilla in manilla
See I disagree and I also think that Ali/Frazier I was a better fight than the Thilla in Manilla.......
Severely underrated, the third wasn’t very good but the first two more than make up for it.
The 3rd fight was very good too. At least if you watched it on TV. As Larry Merchant said, the crowd wasn't into it because the action was at such close quarters.
But on TV you could see up close the terrific things they were doing on the inside and how brutal it really was.
Ali-Frazier had more significance with the whole politicial aspect of the first fight, plus boxing was bigger back then and Ali is quite possibly the most famous athlete in any sport ever.
Although probably none of the Bowe-Holyfield fights were quite up to the FOTC or Manila, all 3 were excellent fights.
The same cannot be said of Ali-Frazier. The 2nd fight was a stinky clinch fest.

great fights, the thing is it's Ali vs Holyfield most people see Ali as the best ever so they like to talk about his fights more. For me the holy/ bowe fights are better and yes should get more cred
Probably because Evander lost the trilogy (and by KO) while Bowe became regarded as a big failure. I mean who the hell loses the motivation to be heavyweight champ of the world?
