My bad if someone posted this already
I think it is a huge task for Barrera who never fought at 135.
Chavez gave Morales all he could handle even though he injured his right hand early in the fight.
Barrera, a superior techinician,
Chavez, bigger and stronger brawler,
who wins this fight and how?
I pick Barrera win by UD, he's gonna use his jab, quick combinations all night, and stay away from brawling with Chavez.
But if Chavez lands a big punch like the one he landed against Hernandez in the 12th round, it'll probably drop Barrera...
My boy MAB will show the world why he's one of the best P4P fighters of today. He has the skills and intelligence to beat Chavez. Chavez may have the advantage in in size power but MAB has the ring smart to outclass and outpoint Chavez. A UD win for MAB.
I'm willing to bet $2bn on MAB, straight bet only. Any takers?
I typed it a while back, I'll type it again.
Barrera is going to knock Chavez out. He should get him in trouble, then finish him. Chavez is going to be outgunned.

Good insight buddy. I think chavez has the upper hand in a phonebooth fight because he has the stronger punches. Damn, i'm really bias. And i like to think that MAB is well prepared for this fight that he conditioned himself to last 12 rounds but I say chavez has become stronger in a higher division while mab's power is that of a featherweight. I think the best way for MAB to win this fight is to stay outside but Chavez will be chasing him and won't care if he receives punches as long as he connect one or two power punches of his.
Good to see you too buddy and I return back the karma favor.
@jom's- Indeed pare, we want to see how the death of leavander has affected the psyche of chavez. Thanks, pal!
Yeah, checked that note on jom's and agree that the Leavander effect may be a factor. Good chance of it being a factor. There are many examples in boxing.
Heya there, old pal!
I'm inclined to think MAB will mix it up some in the very early going (1st and 2nd) just to see how much damage he can inflict and how much Jesus can give. If he finds success, he'll keep it up until a bit past the middle round (say 7th) then ease up-- jab and side-step-- in the 8th, 9th and 10th. He'll try to resume a brisk pace in the 11th and early in the 12th.
That's good on paper. But can a 30-past year old pair of legs and a body that has gone through many wars keep to the script? I don't know.
If MAB sees in the first two rounds that he'd be in danger if he fights up close, I think he'll step back and fight from the outside. At least, I think, he'll try, but then again, can he discourage Chavez from taking the fight to him? Force him to plant his feet and go into phone booth warefare?
To prevent such a warefare, he'll have to have some power to discourage Jesus from wading in through his punches. Absent such power, he must be quick with his hands and feet. But can he be nimble enough with those aging legs? That is something we still have to see. MAB's three fights immediately preceeding this one cannot be held up as indications of whatever quickness (or lack of it) he still has in those legs. Those did not require him to display too much feet and body movement. He didn't have to look for Erik and Erik did not have to look for him-- they knew each other enough. They were mostly planting their feet on the canvass and banging. As for the other two fights, I think he would have won those if he just merely somnambulated.;)
Edit: Good to see ya buddy! Sent ya some good ks...:)

I agree, it's a pick 'em fight and not one has a clear edge over the other or am I being bias. Time for MAB to prove that he isn't afraid of any fighter except for pac.
You think MAB will fight from the outside? or will he fight like he fought EM agressively in their thied fight? Damn, i'm excited to see this upcoming great fight.Heya there, old pal!

How come everyone is so eager for M.A.B. to fight Pac again?
What would knocking him out again prove?
It was really him who fought pac... nothing more nothing less. BTW, your sig rock!!! so forget about mab and pac. They both suck!!! :D

That's the only way Chavez knows how to fight. If there are those who've seen him fight in any fashion fundamentally distinct from that, I'm not one of them. To tell Chavez to fight in the manner that he always fights is to say more than is necessary. Would anyone bother to teach a wolf how to take care of a slab of meat?
The MAB who fought Naz won't be a cooperative customer for Chavez, granting that THAT Mab can and shall be resurrected. Even a Mab who is not like that one won't be easy prey for Chavez to pressure. He still has hand quickness.
That Chavez failed to crowd Erik in manners that he usually did his other opponents was, in a large part, because he was a one-armed Chavez. That is on top of the fact that the Erik of the time was not all that easy to pin, not because Erik went anywhere, but because Morales was just as able to deliver bombs.
Edit: Still and all, I still pick Chavez. And, I'm preparing my butt to be kicked. The chance that I am wrong is just about as good as that I may be right. The fight MUST be one to watch.

for Chavez to win this one is to pressure MAB, back him up on the ropes then throw the bombs. :eek:That's the only way Chavez knows how to fight. I'm going out on a limb and say, I see this fight going in Chavez's favor. But, if today's past-30 MAB manages to resurrect the MAB who faced and shamed NAZ with jabs and movement to pile up points, I can be in trouble.:o
Chavez will bully MAB to the ropes, and win by a UD.
I hope that MAB will lose this fight so that he won't have any reasons in ducking Pac again.
this is the dead end for him.
this tread is going to good lets not bring the pacman ducking shit in to this one
i havent seen chavez vs morales but on boxrec, the scores were 118-108 117-109 115-112, cept for that last score he doesnt seem that morales had any problem what so ever, could anyone upload the fight for me? btw i pick barrera to be to fast and pick jesus apart with counter punchs and work him over with body shots
chavez broke his right hand and faught all 12 rounds. so it got easy for morales.
If Barrera is smart he'll use his boxing skills and box his way into a UD, however if he decides at some point in the fight to brawl with Chavez he could run right into disaster.
I really don't think there's a bad or wrong answer to this poll. Both sides are justifiable, and that's what makes great fights. I'm really looking forward to this matchup.
I'd go with Barrera by decision here, but I can definitely see Chavez pulling off the win as well, providing he's not adversely affected by the death of Johnson.
