rate the guy so highly because he is the best boxer of this era, the current p4pking, a living legend and the greatest southpaw of all time
i am half boxing fan and half pachugger... what is wrong with that? lolz
im willing to bet if he loses to floyd you will still say he is the best boxer of his era? am i correct?
Duran went 72-1 and beat a legend in Sugar Leonard. After that, the rest is icing on the cake. Duran even in loss was great. He was brutally ko'd by Hearns, and came back and took the tile from the man who brutally ko'd and beat Hearns twice in Barkley. Pac would have to fight Floyd, PW, Sergio, Abraham, Froch, and Dawson just to be in the same league as Duran.
Agreed!
Signed,
Proud Flomo

If PAC ever faces P-Will(highly doubt it though) and beats him. That win in my opinion will have him above Duran.
Why, well, Duran's biggest opponent was Iran Barkley, who stylewise was made to order for Duran, never really was an elite champion.
P-Will currently is the most feared fighter between 147-154lbs, not so with Barkley at the time he fought Roberto.
I mean, P-Will's size and style is all wrong for PAC.
How is a guy that became a three division world champion (middleweight, S. middleweight and L. heavyweight), beat one of the greatest fighters ever and was the only fighter to ever get a decision over Tommy Hearns (as well as knocking him out) as well as face a who's who of the best fighters of that era not 'an elite champion'?
As for being made to order for Duran, I really don't think it matters what style you are if you are only 5'6" and nearly forty years old, and way above his best weight, facing a 6'1" guy in his prime that just came of the greatest win of his career, that shite doesn't matter.
You relate everything back to Pac, and all I'll say is that Pac never beat someone of Tommy Hearns skill and accomplishments.
I voted NO.
They are both very different, and Duran beat Leonard, one of the greatest fighters ever. Leonard was at his peak, and at his best weight.
Duran managed to hold his own against possibly the greatest MW ever over 15 rounds in prime Hagler.
But Duran also lost often enough for people to think he was finished, only to amaze people with great comeback wins over Barkley, and Moore.
Pac has acheived alot, but he (IMO) lost twice to JMM, beat an old Oscar, and stopped Morales twice when he was almost done as a fighter. Barrera was also past his best.
The main differnce is Pacs oppostion doesnt compare to Durans.
Cosign homie... but all i can truly say about Pac is that his career is not yet finished therefore this conversation should take place once Pac is truly retired.

Duran is top 10 all time....Pacquiao aint even top 20. End of Story.
Pac would have to wreck havoc at 140 and 147 for me to put him almost as high as Duran.
Pac already surpassed Duran.
Pac's already the 1st & the lone 4 weight Lineal Champ.
Pac Already tied DLH as 6 weight Champ and 2 wins away to become 5 weight Lineal Champ.
Duran Struggled when he moved up to Welter & Middleweights and has bunch of loses there. Pac as he moved up becomes the more Dominant Force.
Pac will be rated higher once he's done with Cotto, PBF & Mosley!!! He'll be at least top 3 P4P of all time once he retires!!
Duran's first ever pro fight was at super bantamweight....He ruled the lightweight division which is 3 division above super bantamweight.....
Pac's first ever pro fight was at Junior Flyweight.......3 divisions above junior flyweight is Bantamweight (118 lbs)
why would you like Pac to wreck havoc at 140 and 147 which is 8 and 9 divisions above jr flyweight?
anyways, you dont need to answer my question.....you are clearly biased against Pac
My fault Pac needs to wreck havoc at 135 and 140...he fought one fight at each division, he needs to do more there to strengthen his ATG status
But Pac wants to fight welterweights below 147. That doesn't make sense. The title shouldn't be on the line.
And I rate Pac higher than one of my favs Floyd on the ATG list so I'm not biased.

Duran's legacy still surpass Pacquiao's......Duran is no doubt the best lightweight ever.....his win over Leonard cemented his ATG status although his loses to Hearns and Hagler, although bigger men is notable. one thing I hate about Duran: he showed he lacked heart when he quit in his rematch with Leonard and it will forever be a part of his legacy
I know it's hard to supercede Duran's accomplishments because Duran's career has ATG written all over it, except for his copped out against SRL. But what if Pacman wins a third title in three different weight divisions in ONE CALENDAR YEAR, would it amount to something?
Of course it would amount to something, it would be a very good accomplishment.
We won't have a definitive answer until Pacquiao's career is over but as stated earlier in the thread, Duran started at 118 but still managed to be competitive all the way up to light heavyweight, it's going to be very hard for Pacquiao is supercede that.

25 of the voters are fucking stupid. Duran was a 135 punder whoping on MWs
Pacman is a 106 lber whipping all the way up to the welterweight. hopefully. :D
