Apparently Hatton is ducking Mayweather, right?
If that is so lets make this a bit more attractive... perhaps we could have a 5% gain of the purse in favour of Mayweather, an American ref of his choice of the boards choice, and at least 1 American judge...
We hold it in the MEN Arena in Manchester, which I believe has a larger capacity than all of the Vegas venues and possibly even MSG....
We stick it on PPV and the fighters will receive the biggest pay day of their lives, and everyone's happy, including the fans.
Where is the objection?
EXTIGE sed gayweather to choose the ref and a judge can be american, you dont even read!!
maywether is ducking hatton?
floyd isnt ducking hatton. if anything, hatton is "ducking" floyd because he said he doesnt want to fight floyd just yet. floyd said he would whoop hattons ass etc etc.
Damn, you take some pleasing!
The guy's been nothing short of Awesome for 10+ years.
awesome is an overstatement, seeeing as hes only had one big fight, but hes an exciting very good fighter
How comes Mayweather doesnt get ripped for not stepping foot out of America?
Only the quizmaster knows the answer to these questions.
america is a huge country dude its not the same. england is tiny in comparison. at least 90 percent of the big fights are in the US. its not like mayweather fights much at all in Grand Rapids Michigan. Most his fights are at the big casinos.
i dont really care where fighters fight as long as they show them. they can fight in tibet as far as i care man.
why should mayweather settle for just 5% increase? it should be 75% 25% purse split in favor of mayweather. or really ideally id say let the dude that wins the fight win the 75% share.
i would want mayweather to fight hatton in england just to rub it in even more and silence that crowd. even though i think hatton is good and i respect him i dont think hed give mayweather much of a fight.
how come hatton doesnt get ripped for not coming to america, but yet sturm does, i mean hatton's biggest fight came to him in his hometown, while sturm with only 20 pro fights came to america and beat up one of boxing most known fighers,

Why does ricky want more fights?!! the guy has 40 fights! hatton could fight cotto on June 11 but i guess him promoter doesnt want that to happen.... he wants to fight baldimor... and if he fights on june im sure they would make a hatton vs floyd... but i bet hattons corner would say... "ooh we need to fight atleast 2 more fight to get fans in the US"
who would want to fight in england anyway? after that tszyu fight sheesh i think no one wants to fight there now
Me personally? No not really. I feel like some people who really love Mayweather are objecting because they feel England is an unsafe advantage in Hattons favor.
I could care less wheree the fight happened I just think it would happen here as opposed to there.
These guys should fight in africa with jay nady as ref.
good idea
i like a neutral location with nuetral refs and judges
Gringo... There ya go making sense again.
You know that is gonna make Exige's head spin. Facts scare him.
Which facts do you speak of, lol.
He presented no facts in that post, other than the ones about Castillo and Corrales, thus unrelated, thus not "scaring" me...
Go figure, fucking fool.
Name me the big fights that were staged in England and their PPV numbers.
Since you are touting "every other major fight". What major PPv fights are you talking about??? I KNOW you aren't comparing the relative magnitudes of Hatton-Tszyu '05 to Hatton-Mayweather '06 ?!?! SURELY you aren't doing that?!
Do you think that PBF, who fought Bruseles for 3 million, Gatti for 3+ million and Mitchell for 4 million, and is scheduled to fight Judah for 6 million is going to take Kostya Tszyu money?
You didn't address a SINGLE point with a fact. Every response was "do it like they always do". Always do what?? What major fights are you referring to? What megafights have been staged there? List them.
Floyd is an HBO contracted fighter. Why would HBO take a PORTION of the money from SKY when they can broadcast the fight themselves at the Mandalay Bay or MGM and make Sky PAY THEM a licensing fee? There is a reason why HBO has been overpaying PBF for "easy work". To reap future rewards. Not to give the revenues away to green-toothed Brits.
You are truly 'bery bery stoopid.'...but please: tell me about all the mega-fights you are referring to.
When it comes to the HBO and SkySports relationship, I am sure that is done on a contract which is written up before any fight have even take place. HBO pay for the stream from SkySports anyway, and then use their own commentary team etc. etc.
As for the big fights over here? You even mentioned one yourself. Hatton-KT, soon we will have Lacy-Calzaghe, and when Tyson has fought over here it has always been a sell out. Then of course we have the little rivalries which have gone in within the UK. Benn-Eubank, Benn-McClellan, Eubank-Watson.... there have been some major fights in the UK.
Come on, you have xtreme bxin nawledge, you should be listing them.....
Me personally? No not really. I feel like some people who really love Mayweather are objecting because they feel England is an unsafe advantage in Hattons favor.

Good post .
Hey Exige. 'Tard here.
You may not be aware of a little something called a time difference. Yes. A time difference. Since the earth revolves around the sun and different parts of the earth get exposed to daylight at different times, we are required to assign something called "time zones".
You see, England is FIVE hours ahead of the east coast and EIGHT hours ahead of the west coast. That is why Kostya Tszyu had to fight at 2am Manchester local time. Jeff Lacy is doing the same thing.
Now, neither Lacy nor Tszyu are PPV stand-alones on their own. But PBF believes he is, and his promotional team is casting and marketing him as such.
So, you are asking him to fight at 2am Manchester time so that the fight can be shown in Vegas and LA at 5pm-ish on a Saturday afternoon. Does that seem appealing to you? A 3pm broadcast time in Los Angeles with a 6pm main event will result in WAY lower PPV buys. Us hardcore fans are still in. The casual fan? Ehhh, not so much.
Also, you may or may not be aware of this (I learned it in retard school). Casinos in the US pay what is called a "site fee" to help finance a fight. For example, the Mandalay Bay has paid up to $10 million for a DelaHoya fight. They also do ticket guarantees where they buy a certain number of the high priced tickets. That minimizes a promoter's risk. The casinos are willing to do that knowing that they will sell rooms, meals and make a bundle back in the casinos. Notice how table minimums always increase on fight weekends.
Lastly (and I would have thought that you knew this already being the genius that you are), the main money in a megafight comes NOT from the arena capacity, but from PPV buys. If an arena holds 20,000 vs 12,000... big whoop. Selling an extra 10,000 tickets at $100 each is only a million of revenue. It is FAR more important to focus on getting your PPV buys up from 350,000 to 450,000, for example. That amounts to an incremental four point five mil of revenue. Surprised that math escaped you. The biggest non-heavyweight fight was ODLH/Trinidad. That was at Mandalay Bay Events Center.
I know I said "lastly" above. I lied. By having one of their contracted boxers fight overseas, HBO puts substantial licensing rights at risk. International broadcast rights are complicated and HBO would undoubtedly have to share revenues with British broadcasting partners who own the infrastructure.
Boy, Exige... really wish I was as knowledgeable as you are about the boxing business. :D
Well done you raised 4 irrelevant points. Im gonna buy you a sticker that says "top tard".
Time gap - Mayweather trains over here for a month, and is scheduled like every other major fight that happens over here in terms of when it happens in the day. That point is gone.
Casino subsidies - Frank Warren didnt have any problem raising money for the Hatton-KT fight. That point is gone.
PPV Buys - Totally irrelevant, why did you mention it? This fight sells alone regardless of whether it is in the UK or America. If you add the fact that the Arena is bigger onto that, you officially lose, since revenue will be larger here than America... That point is gone.
Shared Revenues - Happens all the time, so why did you raise this? Over here SkySports covers boxing for those who have subscribed to Sky... over there HBO make it a PPV. That point is gone.
Is there any real reason why you object to England as a location?

the problem is, judges are not the only problem. the ref and ring doctor also factor in
I said an American ref, at least one American judge, and I didnt say it before but since you insist, ill throw an American ring doctor in.
Factor that in with the 5% purse increase for PBF. Is there any pleasing you?
Hatton fights Mayweather here...I don't see why this is debated so much.
The fight will happen, it'll be a good fight either way. America is where the big time fights happen, I know that is close mided or whathaveyou but it's the way it is often times.
Mayweather has faced Castillo and Corrales when they were both absolute killers...theres nothing more scary about Hatton right now than there was with those guys several years ago. He's fought the best in his career, even though he's seemingly fighting powder puffs right now. Fights gonna happen though, not in MEN however.
Is there any real reason why you object to England as a location?
i guess it makes sense in that case. get an american, a brit, and someone from switzerland.
the problem is, judges are not the only problem. the ref and ring doctor also factor in
I personally not bothered as to where this fight takes place simply because I cannot see it going the distance. One man will win through stoppage/KO before the 12th round. Its too close to call. Its a 50/50 bout.
Hatton has a habit of getting cut and then going on to win the fight you mean?
So Mayweather cuts him, and Hatton gets stopped early, because its America, when if you look at his past performances, the cuts havent hindered his fighting and he has always gone on to win (hence undefeated record)...
Mayweather needs to step outside of his backyard for me to respect him, like I do KT who had the balls to come to England and pick the biggest money up...
hatton is not good on cuts. i predicted floyd to stop hatton on cuts. i think hes precision and speed will allow him to attack the cut and eventually stop the fight.
LIKE I SAID, i dont care if the fight takes place in the us
IN fact, hold it in a neutral location with a neutral ref and neutral judges.
ya, kt had the balls to come to england and look what happend. he lost in one of the dirtiest fights ever
