I havent been on here much lately but from what Ive seen on him I see that alot of guys are just seeing him for the first time and liking him or they hated him first but are giving him some props after his last fight.
Im on the other side of the fence. Those of you that know me on here knows that I have always loved this kid and thought he could be great. Almost 2 years ago I was saying that I thought he was the most underrated of the young guys, would beat Gatti right now, and would give Cotto fits and its 50/50 on the win. People always clowned his power but I always said that it didnt matter because he was such a great boxer that he would still be very successful. Im glad to see the rest of you are catching up.
Now in his last fight I saw it on ESPN but I didnt watch much of it because something else was on. I saw part of it and from what I saw, I am again on the other side of the fence. I thought he showed his normal skill but I actually wasnt as impressed with him this time around and I thought he looked as if he was on a lower level then the other guys. Now like I said, I only watched bits and pieces and you certainly cant tell anything from that, so I wont fully judge him. Tell me how you think he did.
Also, I made this thread because I just saw his interview on BT where he said that he would fight Cotto tomorrow and that they want his next fight to be against either N'Dou or Corley. Now those of you on here who knows me knows that Chop Chop is my boy and I think he is very underrated. I dont think Paulie is ready for him yet unless Chop looks shot and I dont think he will look that way. Paulie would lose. I also think he would lose to N'Dou from what I saw, unless Witter took everything out of him. Again this is just based on the littile bit Ive seen. From my old thoughts I would pick him to beat N'Dou in a tough fight but still lose to Chop.
I dont think you can go from fighting the level Paulie has fought straight to guys like them. There in another level in between that he should take on first. It would be a shock to him if he got in the ring with them and I dont think he would handle it well. His advantage over everyone is his boxing ability but against Chop he would be facing someone who can box just as good and is better at everything else.
What are you guys thoughts on what I said and was I wrong about how he looked the other night? And remember, when I say not that good, Im judging him on a high level because 2 years ago I had him beating Gatti and giving Cotto a run
Paulie is like a new wave Spadafora who isn't locked up. I think that he could definitely box his way to an alphabet championship, but it will take the 'Paul Spadafora Title Defense Program' to keep that title especially in this weight division. I don't think that Cotto is the 'paper champ' who will lose to this guy though.
You get these fighters who rack up KO's early on, against a series of limited fighters.
What happens to many of them ? They step up, & discover the guys they are fighting aren't so easy to hit, aren't as east to hurt when they do land, & punch back well.
I see a similar thing happening to Paulie....but, he's a boxer & not a puncher.
Paulie's defense isn't gonna look so great when he faces a higher caliber foe. The better foes' hands move faster, more accurately. They will also make Paulie miss more, & counter him.
Hes a flashy kid with good boxing ability, his ability is excellent if we were judging amatuer fighting. Simply stated, the kid fights with pillows. He is extremely fast and he moves with his punches well but he lacks power. If he wants to contend at the top, and I believe that he has the potential, he will need to learn how to set down on his shot and dig his toes into the canvas. He has displayed sharp eyes in the fights that I have seen, being that he is able to avoid a good amount of punches with head movement and such. But again, he will encounter the opponent that he will not be able to keep off of him simply with movement and pitty pat punches, and he will then have to fight in the trenches. So in conclusion I say that he needs to dig a bit when throwing and then use that speed and eye sight to get out of the way. If he continues to fight as he is and fights a top fighter he will not be talking quite as loud as he does today.
Rockin' :boxing:
Nice.I agree.
I thought so, but he looked really good tonight, and who knows. I hate them both, and can't wait to see Malignaggi get his cummupins
btw Lost is the best show ever
Hes cocky but hes ok. I dont think hes a bad kid
i think theres no comparison. manfredo is a joke compared to malignaggi imo.

I can't stand the guy, there's somthing about Italian fighters I can't stand, in boxing its good to be arrogent, but he takers it to a whole new level. The one interview I saw im in he mentioned Italy and brooklyn about fifty f**kin times and that pissed me off, if your a good fighter its cause your a good fighter, not cause your an Italian from brooklyn. Being Half puerto rican and half italian, and living in brooklyn, I have to deal with a lot of people like that. Manfredo jr. is just as bad, but I think manfredo is a better fighter, and tonight actually beat someone with championchip fight experience, even though pemberton looked terrible.
On the other hand I give credit where its due and he looked good on friday, Quick with a good defence, his punching power is terrible though and i think he has a hand problem.
For the dude who said he would give Cotto fits i seriously doubt that, I think Cotto would destroy him.
I liked Malignaggi's performance against Camarena. He showed great handspeed and ring movement, plus he brings some entertainment. I also like the fact that he is a big Camacho fan and gives Macho his props. Malignaggi is alright, so far.
dude malignaggis performance was really good i mean he was fighting a really decent prospect and just completely shut his man down. i was very impressed with his performance but that doesnt mean it was perfect for one he didnt go to the body at all hardly cause he was focusing so much on knocking the dude out. but the guy was just blocking a lot of malignaggis shots although a lot were breaking through they were still less effective and malignaggi just let the guy off i thought. if malignaggi wouldve gone to the body he wouldve got that guy out of there for sure.
id say go ahead and put him in against someone like ndou or corley or clottey. have him fight at least two of those three then if he gets by them go ahead and start thinking about title shots. i really dont think malignaggi will get to a title before he has at least one loss though. hes better waiting for cotto to move up cause cotto seems big for 140 and is most likely really draining himself. either malignaggi would box his ears off or cotto would tear paulies head off.
Clotty sounds good to me but arent they good friendx? I doubt if they would fight. N'Dou isnt that bad I guess but I wouldnt put him in with Chop unless I was sure that Chop has lost a step. Chop has only loss to top fighters in which he also put a big scare in and that is a big step up
