There are a lot of young guns out there garnering major attention, and for good reason. Three guys that come to mind are Andre Ward, Joel Julio, and Amir Khan. I think all three of these guys are future world champions, and have unlimited potential. We haven't seen much of Khan or Ward yet, but they both appear to be special fighters. Of the three, Julio has impressed me the most, and I think he's eventually going to be one of the best pound-for-pound in the world. Julio Caesar Chavez, Jr., on the other hand, has a lot of maturing to do, and just hasn't impressed me as much as these three. Jr. will probably pad his record like his dad, and have about 40 or 50 bouts under his belt before taking on formidable opponents. Don't get me wrong, I have the utmost respect for his father, and I think Jr. will have an excellent career. However, in my eyes, Joel Julio is the most impressive up-and-comer I've seen. So, who do you all think is the most promising prospect out there? Feel free to write in other guys I may have left out. A few guys may have slipped my mind, and there may be some future stars that I'm unaware of. As always, thanks for your input.
Of that group.
I'd say Amir Kahn. He's got some intangibles from what I've seen.
My top prospect is Allan Green though.

surprised none of you dumbasses didn't mention Lucian Bute from Canada. 15 fights, 15 KO's, easily KOing a fighter that dropped Calzaghe and went the distance with him. Will TKO or easily UD Lacy when they eventually meet a little down the line.
If we are talking about smw, don´t forget Kessler. He is my pick. The least known champ in the world - yet -
I remember when I was the only person to vote for Michael Nunn that time in the Roy Jones-vs-Michael Nunn poll on here whereas about 100 others voted for Jones, yet I was actually the ONLY person who had seen Nunn fight!!
It's ridiculous.
get your head out of your own arse juy and appreciate that other people have a right to their own opinion and that yours may be wrong, its shit like this why you get fuck all from me, by the way those books are good boy
In truth Joel Julio should be a star in no time. But I think the Chavez jr., because of his name, and the affinity of the WBC to fighters like Chavez jr, I think he will get breaks other fighters will not normaly get.
I was a big fan of Nunn's, and at one time, I thought he was the best P4P in the world. So, I'm not gonna argue with you, Nunn could've very well beaten Roy in his prime, but it's a very close call. Terry Norris was one of the 2 or 3 best P4P in the world at one time, and he destroyed Sugar Ray, but Leonard in his prime would've beaten norris in his prime. So, I know saying Toney beat Nunn, and Jones beat Toney isn't necessarily the most valid point, but it's the only basis for comparison.

I've said it once, I'll say it again. Nunn lost his title to who? james Toney. Toney lost his title to who? Roy Jones. In Nunn's prime, it would've been a close fight, but I still say Roy edges him, in his prime.
joel julio, he looks very good, the others (besides kahn, who i have someyhow not seen yet) look pretty good, but look at who they r fighting, i mean, JJ isnt fighting great competition, but at least he looks great.
That's true, but very few boxers fight tough bouts in the early stages of their career. The fact of the matter is, that these guys are virtually untested, and it will be a year or two before they are. But, based on what I've seen, they're pretty impressive, and the sky's the limit.
i would really like to see Julio blowup. the kid has power, he can box and he's exciting to watch. I would like to see him move up to Middleweight with time and stir some shit up.
I kno theres a lot of Chavez jr haters, but i think the kid has potential to be a star. He brings the fight to the opponent , he can scrap, box, exciting, and the kid has charisma.
There's alot of Mexican fans out there that WILL pay to see the kid fight. His fan base is the same as his fathers, and that spells BIG MONEY.

If Chavez Jr gets through Carlos Molina on the 18th he does.
The road to startdom has already been paved for him, he has the support of many important people in boxing also.
and Hatton's part of Banner Promotions. Have you even watched one of his fights?
I watched damn near all of them. You want to talk skills. You got Joachim Alcine and Jean Pascal going a lot further than this guy. They making noise cuz he's a white guy kocking people out. That's all.

Bute's a product of Interbox. He ain't shit.

That's a pretty bold prediction as far as KO'ing Lacy goes, but you are right. He's one of the up-and-comers I've failed to mention. Gracias.
Short of Zoo and Tito, you'd be hardpressed to think of a guy at 147 who punches like Julio. Whether that will translate into being a huge star you never know but his skills are good for his age too and I'd bet that he becomes a champ. It'd be nice if a year or two from now if he was the guy who cleaned up the 154 pound division which is secretly as muddled as the HW division in some respects
I would have to go with Joel Julio, he has so much talent and power that is hard to pick against him. I'd like to see him step up in class soon, so I can get a better ppicture of what hes made of. I think Andre Ward has the lowest upside of all the aforementioned prospects. He has a garbage chin, fights like hes still in the Golden Gloves, and has yet to show impressive KO power. He looks like Zaheer Raheem in there.
Good post. I agree with the majority of what you said. I think a lot of your comments about Ward are accurate, but he is extremely talented. I think he's a little overconfident, and will be exposed early in his career, but I believe he will go through a maturation process, and eventually become a force. He's very quick, and has a very large upside in my opinion. If he grows defensively and maintains focus, I really do see him being great, but you do make some very strong arguments.
I remember reading a long time ago that someone had told a boxing writer, can't remember his name, to keep placing bets on Tito Trinidad until he lost. The writer said if he had done this he would have alot more money.
I think I'm going to do the same on Joel Julio.
Sounds like a damn good idea to me...
No, I think Mitchell and/or O'Donnell will beat Khan in the future.
Be it two years, three years or any other kind you got.
You're entitled to your opinion, and you may very well be correct, but I see bigger things in Amir's future.
