First of all, Gatti is NOT the biggest box office draw since Mike Tyson. Where do y'all get this stuff??
How many PPV fights has Gatti had? What has been Gatti's biggest purse? As Zab "Stupor" Judah would say: "Get your mind right."
I can name you a STRING of fighters who have sold more than Gatti. Ever heard of Oscar? Trinidad? etc.
right now, floyd is involved in much bigger purses than gatti
Good point. Until Gatti beats a true great fighter, he won't get in. Wars or not, he got crushed by Manfreddy. Three different weight divisons? If he can win the title, I think he could be in line for a HOF bid. But at 147, I just don't see Gatti doing it. Can he beat Baldomir? I'd like to see the fight. Can he beat Judah? It depends if the basket case can get out of video's, and start being serious about boxing. But at 140-147, there are a couple of names that Gatti doesn't want to even want to mention.
mayb, i love gatti, and hes done so much for the sport of boxing by putting out a war every time he steps into the ring, and has the most heart out of any boxer ive ever seen. BUT, on the other hand, he is not a great fighter. he a is a good fighter, a great entewrtainer, and the best warrior, and im not sure whether or not that should put him in the HOF
He definitely doesn't make it based on his record as a fighter. The thing is, he's a fighter that's helped rejuvinate the sport in the eyes of a lot of people, and he's helped attract a lot of new fans. If they decide to let him because of that, I wouldn't be upset.
3 title belts in 3 divisions = HOF
if Terry Norris can get there, why not Gatti?
Boxing's HOF isn't nearly as sacred as the MLB or even the NFL, plenty of title-holders and top contenders make it into the Hall, Gatti will make it based purely on reputation and popularity alone
Sit down, kid. You really don't know what your talking about.
Henry Armstrong was a 3 division champ. Arturo Gatti was never a "champ" at any weight, he was a titlist. Suggesting that Gatti deserves to be in the HOF suggests how much of a moron you are. Anyone with half a brain knows he WON'T get there and SHOULD NOT get there.
LOL, no shit. Excitement automatically equals HOF. Raetaard isn't the brightest bulb in the factory.
remind me to point this out the next time I feel like calling you a fucking idiot, which will probably be before tomorrow
Gatti is a good boxer and an even better entertainer , I think he should probably be HOF material just for all the excitement he has brought the sport over the years and he does not take fights off like other welterweights..... ;)

I don't know what the boxing HOF criteria is. Now with that being said, Gatti has been in some of the best wars in the past 8 to 10 years in boxing. It's what makes him a great draw. But the times he has been against HOF CALIBER opponents, he has got his ass beat. Not out boxed, not close majority decisioned, but smoked. And he has never had a rematch with either of the two that crushed him. I don't won't to get into a pissing contest about, "well so and so didn't wan't the rematch, or so and so was not about fair splits in the money". If Gatti was that big of a draw, he should have had his rematches. But Gatti got smashed, and his opponents didn't think twice about him. Gatti can beat all the Damgaards(sp), or Baldomirs he wants, but until he beats a true world class champ, he dosen't get my vote (like I have some vote to give) :)
I think if Gatti is to win he should get in. I mean, even if he wasn't the greatest p4p fighter at anytime he still was well above average. Also, he excited fans, that alone might be enough. I mean, I'm torn. Heart says yes, brain says no. I'm leaning towards yes.
oops i hit yes before i even read it, i thought it was a poll determining who would win the fight if he fought baldimor :o
Absolutely no way HOF fighter, then again though barry mcguigan got it
gatti, being the biggest box office draw since mike tyson, is already assured a place in the questionable hall of fame. if guys like barry mcguigan can get into the HOF, surely the crowd-pleasing 2 division champ arturo "thunder" gatti can, too.
If Oscar and Mayweather hadn't beaten him so badly I would say maybe. But the fact is, when he stepped it up, he got beat very very badly. He go down as one of the great blood and guts warriors.
No, I'm not on drugs, I asked a simple question, and didnt even vote "yes". Are YOU on meth?
LMFAO.
oh man those kinds of responses are priceless. If you look at this thread I made....and Look at the first four posts.
