Impressive is the right word to describe Hill's performance. Astonishing! I have never seen a guy do so well at age 42 in a world class fight. Hill was facing a strong, undefeated fighter who was 13 years younger than him. The thing is that Hill was the mover and the fresher of the two throughout the fight. Hill showed that great jab that he had when he was younger and tremendous stamina. I scored 117-111 for Hill. It was definitely a sweet performance.
On the subject of Hill as an HOFer, it is true that he is much better than many who are in but his style is so pure boxing and not the kind of flash that people who don't appreciate the science like. I would like to see him in, but I'm not sure he will get there. The average guy on the street probably doesn't even know him as the olympian who won a title and defended it quite a few times, they'll only know him as the guy that RJJ ko'ed with a well placed shot to the short ribs. I've always liked Hill, since I was a kid. He's possibly my father's fav fighter besides Larry Holmes, so I saw him a lot.
good fight, somehow his cardio and stick and move style won him the fight....wtf?
That's what I mentioned in my first post. He is 42 and looked 15 years younger.
If Hill does not get the induction, it's because he was never a big name. Plain and simple. Lesser fighters are in, but they were big draws for one reason or another.
Did you see Hill-Brudov? I am looking for someone who saw it to discuss it.
naw man...i could pm DRZ cause he most likely has the fight seen as how he seems to have everything
Well, I am not a professional judge, but I scored it 9 rounds to 3 for Hill. The official judges scored it 10 rounds to 2 for Hill. Damn impressive for a 42 year older who was facing an undefeated 29 year older.
I think that Dariusz really beat him though.
I didn't see it but I sure would like too. Hill could have been the shit at 175 if it weren't for that iffy decision against Dariusz M. and the one-punch KO from Roy.
Did you see Hill against Brudov? I don't know, man. Hill showed awesome movement and a very effective jab that could give problems to any cruiserweight. I would give Hill a chance against anyone at 200.
Hill would have a shot to defeat the current unified champ, O'Neil Bell. Hill is a class above Bell but he may just be too old to deal with Bell right now.
Did anyone see Hill-Mormeck and know why Hill lost?
