I feel this guy is so overrated in the p4p rankings...
He is skilled, can't argue that at all!
but his accomplishments are crap..
The only thing he has done is get a DRAW with Pacquiao, then all of a sudden people have him top 6 p4p...
Who still has this guy as a top 10?
he has the talent but erik morales and mab doenst mention his name a sign of chicken shit!
i give the pacman a credit for stepping in and challenge JMM. he almost got him. it was the error of the judge Pac could the SD.
yes, that was part of my point. That Marquez was known by insiders to be good enough to not get big fights while the fan at home could see his talent but not measured against a proven 'great' fighter. His performance vs Pac is now quite legendary and still the average fan doubts him while most analysts and insiders say he is one of the best p4p. I always give fighters credit for taking tough fights and Pac has definitely taken tough fights and performed well in all of them. That whole weight class is pretty good for nobody ducking too much though. Morales and Barrera have fought their way through the best as well. I think that Marquez didn't have the chance to fight them because they were busy fighting each other and then Morales began having trouble making weight. (Props to Pac again for chasing him up there when he could still make feather easily). No one is in a hurry to fight Marquez though, his showing vs Pac might actually hurt his chances to ever get a big name opponent again. That's the politics of the sport for you. Marquez isn't less the fighter for it.
What really hurts JMM is that he never got fights with Barrera or Morales. Everyone just counted him out like 'Marquez is good but he wouldn't beat Morales or Barrera' and left it at that until he proved his true mettle vs Pacquiao. I think people do rate him by that based on how Pacquiao performed against those 2 measuring sticks for the division. I'm not justifying this but until Marquez is able to land a definitive fight vs a Barrera or a Morales or until the terms for a rematch with Pacquiao can be agreed upon it is all in the air. I can't say that Marquez doesn't belong in the p4p top 10, really, he's a great fighter. I don't know if I myself would put him there though, but if not, I'm sure he would be like 11 or 12.
I have him there simply because I feel like he beat Pac in the first battle. I have no seen Marquez lose to anyone decisively. I guess you can say his RESUME isn't too good but you will see when he gets big fights with barrera morales and pac.
He fought Pac 2 years ago, and had done little before or since.
A contraversial draw isn't enought to get you in the top ten pound for pound when it's all you've done.
Juan Manuel Marquez...
Rafael is underrated...
PS. I am not talking about talent, I am talking about accomplishments..
i have rafael as number 10 but jmm has dont nothing major in a long time
I don't have him in my top ten, because the draw with Pacquiao is really his only reccent noteworthy fight, and I thought he lost.
Rafael is in though. He's an exciting fighter with some quality wins and a long stretch of defenses.
Yeah, lot of people have JMM in but do NOT have Rafael in..
For example, Steve Kim at maxboxing has Marquez at like 6...WTF!

No one, now he's eating balls for chickening out in the last minute of the rematch.
Real answers please...
I seen tons of experts that still has this guy as a top 10 p4p...
He can easily accomplish it and deserve it, but he hasn't...
Fought and got a draw with Manny Pacquiao...that's IT!
