:boxing: Corrales to lose WBO belt!
Win or lose on February 4, WBC/WBO lightweight champion Diego Corrales will no longer have the WBO portion if his lightweight crown. The WBO announced today that Corrales loses his lightweight championship status when he faces Jose Luis Castillo by not complying with his mandatory obligation. The move opens the door for Zahir Raheem (27-1) to face former champion Acelino Freitas (37-1). Freitas' promoter Artie Pelullo is said to like the match, as does Top Rank's Todd DuBoef, who represents Rahim.
i aint sure if corrales or castillo will stay at 135lbs after this fight, there both killin themselves tryin to make 135lbs, i just dont think their body can take much more at 135lbs, i think they will both go up to 140lbs after this fight or soon after.

Zahir-Freitas good bout!
Id go with Freitas to chin check Zahir, but really i dont know how much he has left in the tank,so realistically Raheem does enough to win.
If corrales loses (I like corrales, but i think castillo has his number at this point) That still potentialy sets up Corrales-Raheem, which Id LOVE to see,and gives corrales a chance to regain that belt.
Who cares about that trashy belt. Corrales is the recognized Lightweight Champ. Besides, Raheem-Freitas could be interesting. I think Raheem will frustrate him for a decision win.
I hear ya. Freitas hasn't been very impressive as of late, and Raheem's style, much like Winky and Chris Byrd, is different, even confusing. I don't think that Morales will want a rematch after the one-sided loss, and I don't think he would win.

Chico is fighting a fight the fans want to see, he's also receiving a higher purse then if he was fighting his mandatory.
I doubt that Corrales is staying at this weight after this fight anyways.

who was supposed to be Corrales' mandatory? Nobody on Castillo's level I'm sure.
who cares, because they wont be the true champion and everyone knows it
what a bitch move by the WBO
Bitch move by the WBO... yes, but Freitas-Raheem has potential to be a very good fight.

I hate to hear that about my boy Chico, but I would love to see Arcelino Freitas take on Zaheer Raheem. Freitas looked to be one of the best P4P until Diego took him out, and after underachieving a bit, Raheem looked great against El Terrible, so the WBO needs to set that up. The Lightweight division's competition is at an all-time high right now, and if Barrerra and Pacquiao come up, many superfights could be in store. Good stuff, man.
