Hopkins-Jones unravels!
The proposed March 11 light heavyweight fight between Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones Jr. has fallen apart. An verbal agreement to split the pot 50/50 unraveled in negotiations over the "finer points" involved in what was to be an HBO-PPV telecast. Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer will meet with Hopkins and HBO in New York City at the end of the month to discuss 'The Executioner's' future options. "I have to wait until our meeting before I know for sure, but there's probably a 70-30 chance he'd take a high-profile fight," Schaefer told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. "But there's always that possibility we could go to Philly and have a 'Thank You, Philadelphia,' thing there that would be a celebration of his career."

Took three defeats and back to back defeats to humble both these two to split the purse and now the 'finer details' prevent them from making this fight?
Im not understanding why Jones is taking a hit here, its Hopkins that has pulled out, its Hopkins once again that agreed only to disagree later.
But lets be honest here, Who the fuk even wants to really see this fight at this point??? I dont, I would like to see both of them walk away. this is like Camacho Vs Duran in 1996.
They are both acting like bitches but it is really no big loss to boxing fans at this point.
I agree. I had a felling this would happen. It's almost like fighters nowadays(not all) don't care about being great or even good. If the money's right they'll go out an lose fight after fight. Gotta love Boxing politics.
as a boxing fan at heart id fukin pay to watch this fite. they were both the best in their prime. Why not let those old farts knock themselves out. :boxing:
Was Hopkins going to be wheeled down to the ring in a wheelchair? Did they plan to keep oxygen at ringside for these guys between rounds? We all knew this wasn't happening
At this point I don't think anyone really cares about this fight. Two washedup champions at the end of their careers. I know I wouln't pay to see this one.
No doubt. I would like to see it, just to see which one catches a heart attack first... jk... but they both need to get over themselves. Gimme a break... neither one needs the money, but they both need to retire to salvage once great careers.
This is a fight that I would not have paid to see anyway. Hopefully he makes a good fight before going away (hopkins) but this fight with RRJ is not one that interests me much.
