Wilson Rodriguez-era Gatti vs Castillo would be an epic brawl. However, an even more insane fight would've been Rodriguez-era Gatti vs Corrales! I'd expect knockdowns galore, blood all over the ring, 4 swollen eyes, and crazed intensity from start to finish. I would love to have seen this fight. Gatti and Corrales are two of my favorite fighters to watch. They both have huge amounts of grit, determination, heart, and toughness. Oh yeah, neither of them have ever been noted for their defense, and they love to brawl, so excitement is guaranteed. I respect Castillo for his warrior heart as well, but he's famous for his granite chin. I'd actually prefer to see Castillo vs Hatton and Corrales vs Rodriguez-era Gatti. Those would be 2 epic, awesome wars. Best of luck to Gatti, Chico, and Castillo in the future. :boxing:

it would be a classic indeed. a classic beatdown on Gatti. Castillo's not a Wilson Rodriguez, Gabriel Ruelas or a Mickey Ward he can go to war with. when Jose tags him with a left hook, he'll be staying in the canvass.

That would be a one sided beating, and the fight would not last longer than 5 rounds. Gatti would be absorbing too much punishment, and would have a hard time trying to hit JLC Flush over and over. gatti's not a slugger anymore. if he still was, this fight would be one of the greatest fights ever. gatti's my boy, but castillo is superior in almost every way. better power, better chin, just as much heart, more stamina, and better comback ability (IMO). the only advantages that gatti has over castillo is gatti's technique, speed, and skill (both fighters are lacking but gatti comes ahead in this department). castillo by late round TKO (that would break my heart :( ). I agree in most areas, but Gatti takes it in the heart department.

everybody keeps saying gatti is shot...actually i think he was better then he ever was before mayweather pounded his ass...i know castillo would win..but i think this fight could be fun whiel it lasted

gatti's fight with damgaard might answer some questions i have about gatti, like whether or not hes shot (dont comment, dont answer, its mine to decide). but right now, gatti/castillo probly would be exciting, but not as exciting as it couldve been if gatti was still a slugger.

Ive always enjoyed Gatti's fights but also have thought that he was overrated due to some of the wars he had with guys that were not bad fighters by any means but certainly not world class. Castillo is world class and would have beat any version of Gatti.imo.

100% correct. "Prime" Gatti was getting abused by 2nd rate guys like Ivan Robinson and Angel Manfedy and having life and death struggles with guys like Wilson Rodriguez and a shot Gabe Ruelas. Gatti was DESTROYED against Floyd Mayweather while Castillo fought Floyd as well as anyone every has. Gatti has always been a 2nd rate fighter and thats the truth. He never beat an elite guy and was kept away from all the top guys when he was at 130-135 guys like Gussie Nazrov, Stevie Johnston, Genaro Hernandez and Shane Mosley. His handlers are'nt stupid. When its all said and done Jose Luis Castillo will go down as an all time great for this era. Two different classes of fighters here plain and simple. Gatti looked great against Little Joe Hutchinson didnt he? I give Teddy Reid a better shot at beating Gatti then I do Gatti beating Castillo.

Gatti has been in some of the most exciting & brutal fights you'll ever see. See-saw battles with Ward, Robinson, Rodriguez, & a past-his best Ruelas. Now, if he went life & death with those guys.....how could he hope to hang with Castillo, who is far superior to all of them ?

i could see this fight being 1 of the greatest fights of all time Me too 3-5 years ago.
