If tito comes back, that would be cool. An exiting fighter that the boxing comunitie needs. The problem is that if he does not change his trainer, there is no real future for him. The only people he would be abel to beat would be people stupid enough to go into exchanges with him.
In fact I don't even know that I'd say Tito is on the decline. He lost to two guys he probably would have had a very hard time beating at any point in his career while in his surrounding fights with Cherifini (sp?) and Mayorga-he looked on top of his game. I'd need to see Tito struggle to something like a 115-113 win over a mediocre opponent before I begin to call him over the hill, much less shot. Its been said before but it bears saying again. Boxing desperately needs stars. It might not need a circus like Tyson but it needs guys like Trinidad, Oscar, Gatti, and Mayweather to do well. Trinidads return would be great for the sport
There is no shame in Tito losing to Lacy. Its not a realistic weight fight really. Pretty Boy Floyd wouldn't beat Jameel McCline. Doesn't mean he's not a better fighter. There are no draws at 168 so you can throw that division out and 147 doesn't seem likely for Tito. That leaves 154 and 160. At 160, WInky is pretty much out for now, Taylor is possible but probably not that likely, Hopkins is certainly possible. At 154 there is Oscar for a good possibility, Mayorga 2 makes little to no sense, Mosley would be a fascinating fight, Vargas would make sense if Vargas looked good in a win over Mosley since his fight with Tito was a classic. Ouma and Karmazin are obviously out while Quartey and Forrest would make some sense but are iffy PPV fighters at this point. I think a Mosley fight would be the most intriguing fight out there as it would be an interesting style fight. Shane isn't terribly good on defense or with the jab so it wouldn't turn into a Winky/B-Hop fight for Tito while Shane has never been KO'd (or close to it) and would be a little quicker than Trinidad. I think it'd be a great fight
I like that idea... interesting points.
Where are you guys hearing Tito is coming back?
It was supposedly reported on a google search for east boxing. But the site seems to be down....Hmmmmmmm

I'm not a huge De la Hoya fan, but Oscar will not lose to Mayorga. Mayorga's too one-dimensional, whereas the Golden Boy's a very well- rounded fighter. Tito-Oscar 2 would be interesting, though.
I don't know that Lacy would knock him out but its definitely possible as 168 might be just a bit too much weight for Felix. Its not a realistic fight anyways because Lacy is with Showtime and he's not a big name (to casual fans). Felix would have nothing to gain by fighting Lacy really.
Unfortunately, casual fans know jack. Lacy would pummel Tito. No disrespect to Tito. He was once a great fighter, and is a true legend, but Lacy is a young, hungry, ferocious guy who would annihilate him. Lacy is one of the best fighters in the world, casual fan or not, and Tito no longer is. Lacy would get paid big time for this fight, but it wouldn't prove much. He needs to set his sights on Tarver if he just wants a big payday.
I say, if not Lacy than who? Whats the point of fighting Margarito or DLH? He needs to straighten his legacy or make it better. DLH does not want to fight Trinidad, just how Hopkins does not want to fight him. Simply because he has never had a rematch, and nobody wants to the drop the ball on what supposely was easy, and made them famous for.
How would a brutal KO loss straighten out Tito's legacy ?
I love Tito as a fighter.....but he would be blown out by Jeff Lacy.
Well after watching Oscar-Quartey last night (and the fight against Sturm recently) don't bet on Mayorga to get a decision against Oscar if there is a Tito fight on the horizon!
Hmm here in PR they are talking abut Tito VS De La Hoya 2 ......40Mil!
If DLH beat Mayo......let see if that are just rumors or true....
Nothing personal but when did you get that avatar? I put that pic as my sig yesterday. I just wanna know although I don't mind.
Tito is in too good a shape to retire. He can still make big bucks (not that he needs it)and can give the fans some good fights. As much as he annoys me I would love to see him back.
I think that the issue is not the fact that Lacy looks like a mutant compared to Trinidad. The problem is that Lacy is really strong and punches hard. This is not like Trinidad vs. Joppy, a fight in which Joppy looked much stronger than Trinidad but actually was not.

The other reason why it is not realistic is b/c trinidad is a true welter(147) and started his careet at 140, lacy started his career at 168, he is too big for Trinidad.
