WBC super featherweight champ Marco Antonio Barrera will move up in weight to face Jesus Chavez for the IBF lightweight title on March 25 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The bout will be seen on HBO.
This is good news, glad it's Chavez... should be yet another great fight for 2006. :boxing:
Yes I believe that Barrera is a better fighter for the mere fact that he is a two handed fighter with power in both hands but it's not gonna be that easy Bro.
Chavez has fought bigger guys and he gave them all hell of a war. Take nore that Chavez is already a established 135 pounder and MAB is just going up in weight. We all are not sure how those extra 5 pounds would affect MAB.
Chavez has only had 1 fight at 135, i wouldn't exactly say he is an established 135 pounder. What bigger guys? His only fight at 135 was Levander Johnson who wasn't very big or physically strong.
I can't believe people are picking Barrera to stop Chavez.
I see this fight going either way. Chavez will make it a war and I wouldn't be surprised if he decisions Barrera. Chavez is bigger, stronger and is always coming forward.
I going to have to agree with you, if anybody remembers the Morales-Chavez fight (If you dont hbo will replay next week), but Morales could not stop Chavez, Chavez was all over him in the beggining of the fight near the end of the fight he fought about 3 or 4 rounds just with his left hand and was still able to hit Morales very well. Im a huge Morales fan but I really think that if Chavez was able to fight Morales completely healthy I think the figth would of been much much closer.
So with that said I think it will be a close fight but I going to pick Chavez by decision split to be exact.
The only fighter who had easiest fight with Chavez was Mayweather. He's also the only one who has stopped him. Morales beat a one armed Chavez but still had a tough time doing it.
Chavez is no walk in the park, Barrera is going to face a very busy opponent, this fight should be exciting to say the least.
Barrera is going to have A LOT of problems with Chavez' strength and toughness. I think Marco is going to be stopped late.
Barrera has had a lot of problems with aggressive fighters with high energy levels who can punch (PacMan, Poison Jones). I think he's going have problems with Chavez because Chavez won't stop coming at him and he is the bigger, stronger guy.
I'm actually willing to throw a couple bil on this fight with someone for Chavez straight up.

yea i know...thats true.... but im going to be going for MAB i hope he wins...i like the way he fights.. he's an entertaining fighter..and would fight anyone..and also has a good ass resume
barrera gonna kill this guy!!!! barrera is a better fighter

this is a win-win situation for barrera, i mean hes still got the WBC and IBF belts at 130lbs so if he loses he can go back down in weight and have his belts and still have fights with pacquiao and others. if he wins at 135lbs then hes made history.
do you think morales and pacquiao will follow barrera up to 135lbs???? plus you got castillo and corrales there too :boxing:
This will definitely be an insult towards back at Morales since Morales has failed at his 135lbs debut. Let's see if Barrera can pull it off to get pyschological win over Morales as Morales has beaten Pacquaio once already to get back at Marco. This is good stuff! When they aren't fighting in the ring against each other, they are fighting outside with pyschological warefare! Hahah!
well done marco antonio barrera, he is going for HISTORY!!! and i believe he has what it takes to beat chavez and win another title in a 4th weight class. this is gonna be a great fight. barrera by late KO :boxing:
DOES THIS MEAN THAT WE WILL SEE MORALES VS BARRERA 4??? 4 FIGHTS IN 4 DIFFERENT WEIGHT CLASSES AND THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN ALL BEEN TITLE FIGHTS!!!
WOW, GREAT fight. I'm not gonna pick a winner yet. Barrera is more skilled, but Chavez doesn't quit coming, and it is Barrera who's moving up in weight
