i know ali did this before every fight: he would go to a bathroom stall with ferdie pacheco (his ring doc) and pacheco would shoot up his hands with novacain so ali wouldnt feel any pain from the punches he threw.
is this still legal today? or was it always illegal and ali was just never caught?
why the fuk wud u want your hands to go numb? If your hands are so weak to get injured after all that wrapping and all that padding, boxing aint your thing.
Tell that to Pretty Boy, every fight that doesn't go as planned, he blames on his hands. If you had skills like that, wouldn't you still fight even if your hands couldn't take it?

opethdrums, i don't give up secrets of the trade that easily, even though most boxers don't exactly do what kt does and it is not a part of normal boxing training. but if i explained it in a bit of detail, it might get someone hurt if trained incorrectly and without proper instruction.
and besides, i'm not particularly that well versed in that specific type of training. i am, however, experienced in some of the power training he has worked with. or, more exactly, what he has hinted at.
don't worry, kt mentioned that once he officially retires he will share some of these secrets in a book(even though they are not so secret these days if you look in the right places. :)
sturmrules, ahh the old pee on your hands thing lol! i'd rather do the beef brine treatment.
good idea but wouldn't this fuck your hands up even more in the long run?
tell us what kostya tszyu does! why did you bring it up if you arent gonna tell us
I dont think it was novacain, it was Cortazone...spell check.
Thats what I remember reading about it.
i have ferdie's book (unfortunatly) and he said it was novacaine.

Tony Atlas made a comment about this and how he has been trying to make the amount of rappings for a fighters hand be bigger, it makes sense if you think about it.Breaking your hands in boxing is like loosing your voice for singers, there should be more purcausions for it
i don't think it should be allowed. if your hands are that weak, you're not training right.
for the best method against gaurding your hands from injury, look up what kostya tszyu does, if you can find it that is. he keeps it a bit of a secret, as he only has hinted to it before, but if you know it, you will be able to hit a lot harder and never have to worry about your hands.
