This fight would've been classic a few years back, and even though neither is the fighter they used to be, I highly anticipate this superbout... thoughts?
yes oscar did get robbed in the second fight against mosely and both fighters aren't as good as they used to be.
If vargas makes it a slugfest then I can't see mosely winning the fight. But if Mosley boxes him in the center of the ring and dances around vargas then mosley should have this fight easily.
This is still the fight I'm more interested to see.
Once again the problem with boxing today. This is a fight that I would have love to watch a few years ago. Now I would only watch if there is nothing better on tv.
even though there not in their prime im still really looking forward to this fight, i think its ganna be a war! there both got nothing to lose, so they migh as well throw down!
That's exactly how I see it... good sh$t.
If Mosely works the body he's gonna stop him late. Vargas chin isn't great & he tends to fade a bit late. Mosely's speed & solid chin are a couple of factors that have me leaning towards him.

That's the way I see it. Even though they are not the fighters they used to be, both these guys, particularly Mosley, have always fought real fights, always looking for what the public wants. Jones-Hopkins is another case of this, and even though it should've happened at the turn of the milennium, at least it's going down.
Right. And with so much on the line(title shots an' careers) I wouldn't write these fights off just yet.
This has 2 point of view. If the old vargas and old shane comes this is going to be a great fight but if the new vargas and mosley shows up this will be the worst fight of all time.
i dont have much interest in this fight.. vargas is further gone than shane.. shane just gave winky a good scrap in their rematch... vargas has been doing nothing..
As a fellow Gatti fan, many decent fights seem like snoozefests compared to watching Arturo, but I think that these two have so much to prove, as far as their present worth, that it could turn into a good, maybe great fight. We'll see...
well gatti's known for being exciting, no matter what. mosley was never really exciting and vargas isnt exciting anymore.
when you get two cautious boxers in the same ring, dont expect a war.
both of these guys had good boxing skill back in the day but back then they were alot more of the aggresive type fighter. this fight could have been a real shootout a few years ago but both of them have slowed down and are trying to do something that is really not them. with shane moving and boxing a little to much and vargas doing his best imitation of the mayweather defense, this fight looks to be pretty boring. shame it did'nt happen years ago...

I agree, it would've been a high profile fight some yrs ago. But it couldn't have come at a better time. Boxing needs this right now. And a win for either fighter would put them back in the title pic.Mosley will outbox Vargas for a close decision.

i want vargas to beat the crap outta "sugar & shit" mosley.
but unfortunately im not convinced that he can win a decision. mosley
will likely win 7rds which will be enough to cover any hairy moments

Vargas appears to be the most damaged and has no chin, but Mosley has stopped throwing bombs. If Mosley is aggressive, he KO's Vargas. If he is passive like he has been since losing to Winky, I can see Vargas getting a close decision with a few wobbly moments.
Either way, it's just not a compelling "must see" kind of fight.
both fighters lost to oscar (but DLH was robbed in the 2nd fight with shane), both are past their primes, and both are overhyped.
i personally hold no interest in this fight, whatsoever.
I think this could be a great fight. If a brawl breaks out, I think Vargas has a shot, but if Mosley boxes him, I don't think Vargas can handle Mosley, especially at 154.
