Jones-Hopkins II OFF!
By G. Leon
Reliable sources have informed Boxingtalk.com that the Roy Jones Jr-Bernard Hopkins II will not take place on March 11 and might not take place at all. Hopkins will meet with his Golden Boy Partners later this week to discuss his future plans but Boxingtalk.com understands the future hall of famer will not retire before fighting at least once more. Jones and Hopkins were both unavailable for immediate comment.

This is really terrible. Judah-Mayweather is off, now Jones-Hopkins 2. I don't care if both of them are over hill, I still want to see it!
*EDIT*
Sorry, double post, please delete this thread mods. Thanks!
I would've liked to see this fight though.
but im also happy that they won't go out with a loss, because one of them would loose.
Come on Roy...make it 50 wins like mike.
I would have liked to see the fight a few years ago, not today as they're both on the ends of their careers with losing streaks.
i hope that person reflecting on Taylors jab is female. If we continue with this fag talk I'm quitting on boxing scene. on my 13 years in the boxing business, I never heard such disturbing comments. so please......" Do onto yourself, otherwise do onto others".

this is one fight i could really care less about... there's no way i would have paid to see these two "fight", if thats what you wanna call it... it would have been a near meaningless fight between 2 past their prime guys, who were never really exciting fighters to begin with...
hmm
Hopkins low punch rate and non-existant power at 175 would not be enough to stop the also cautious Roy Jones Jr. That should be obvious.
But, yeah...I don't think this has anything to do with HBO firing Roy. That has nothing to do with fighting. HBO is a business and they could get money for showing the fight. Hopkins maybe changed his mind like he did vs Toney. Who knows? Maybe Roy did call off the fight so he can commentate for HBO...I hope so.
Your avatar is disgusting, man.
You got no business making fun of the mentally retarded..
LoL...My avatar??? Look at yours fool. He looks like the guy from tales form the crips.
I guess I'm VERY alone at the fact that I think Hopkins could KO Jones. Hope the fights does go down so if he gets KO'd I can say I told you so.
Both Glen Johnson and antonio tarver are both stronger than hopkins...besides you are talkin about those 2 people that are natural light heavyweights...when hopkins been fightin at middleweight for awhile now.. hopkins doesnt have the power to KO jones.... Jones has the power to KO hopkins...but i see it hard for jones to catch him....
i just want to know who they both plan on fighting....or the probaly retire....that would be the best decison.... both of them hang the gloves
Why not?? As of late it doesn't look like it would take much to knock Jones out. Lets be honest the guy has been knocked out cold in 2 straight fights and dazed to the point in the last fight that if tarver had enough energy to press the action he would've knocked him out again. Jones chin isn't right in this point of his career.

so you are comparing Antonio Tarver and Glen Johnsons Power to B-Hops power
haha you really think Hop could KO a bigger RJJ?

Hopkins wouldn't be knocking out anyone, he wouldn't throw enough punches to gain a knockout. I'm glad that this fight isn't going to happen, this would have been REALLY boring. I mean c'mon, they'd just be dancing around the ring for the first 8 rounds and pullin their jabs. Roy might throw a flurry here and there but Bernard is gonna go one punch at a time all night unless they're in a clinch. Roy would win a decision in the worst fight of the year.
I would've liked to see this fight but, I would hate for Jones to get KO'D again. Even in the last fight with Tarver he was rocked. Plus I would hate to see Hopkins retire with a KO over Jones.

I'm glad it's off. Now maybe Roy will retire. Either that, or fight a nobody and retire with a win.
This fight never should've been made in the 1st place. Hopkins also needs to retire. But it's their life and they are grown men. I just fear for Roy's health.
do you think it has anythign to do with Roy being fired from HBO???
yeah i think Roy should fight not a nobody but not someone who can beat him so he can retire with a win instead of 3 straight looses. and B-Hop, its ok for him to retire now, he just left his spot to a younger bull.
I was seeing this as a replay of Jones - Tarver 3, which Hopkins in the Tarver role. So I'm glad it's off cause I probably would have bought it anyway and felt ripped off afterwards.
hmm
