Judah-Mayweather Apr. 8 at Thomas & Mack Center
By Steve D'Amato
Undisputed Welterweight champion Zab Judah (34-2, 25KO's) will fight on April 8th at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, in a 12 round non-title match, against top pound-for-pound king, "Pretty Boy" Floyd Mayweather, Jr.
Judah, who will face Carlos Baldomir January 7, will receive 40%, while Mayweather will receive 60%.
Promoter Don King arrived at the Punch Fitness Gym in Deerfield, Fl., and hand delivered the contract - which Mayweather has already signed - to Judah, who looked over it before signing it, officially making this fight one of the most anticipated fights of 2006.
Let the debates begin.
You will see the same Judah who fought Spinks in their first fight. He will get flustered, lose focus, and take a serious beating. Remember, Judah has much more to prove than Floyd.
Zab Judah will give Mayweather his first defeat if the fight happens at 148 or 150 next year. I said this last year.
I really think Mayweather will be so much slower at 148 or 150 (considering he fought at 126 at the Olympics), whereas it would be perfect for Judah because he wouldn't have to worry about losing those last few lbs. Judah is naturally bigger and more powerful than Mayweather, and he's FASTER than Mayweather, and with Mayweather being over-confident and Judah's ability to pull away from shots I just see Judah overwhelming him with size, strength and SPEED. Judah let's punches go from alsorts of angles at times too, and Mayweather hasn't seen that shit before.
It's real simple. Floyd should have taken the 60-40 split in Judah's favor with the belts on the line. Mayweather cares more about money than titles, which I think is bullshit. Both of these guys are assholes. Guess that's where all that talent goes.
to the trash!!!!

I'm not trying to dis anybody, but I don't see how anybody could seriously think that Zab can take PBF. PBF is far more skilled in all aspects than Zab.
But still, he agreed to take a 60-40 split in favor of Floyd...
to protect his interests... no matter what happens (if he loses) his market value will not substantially devaluate, granting he still has those belts, IMO.
i dont know why he wont put the titles on the line. if he loses to floyd, nobody's gonna care that he's got the belts. at least if he blew it in a title match, he could make some dough in a rematch.
the welterweight division should have been a better division if the fighters are up to their "credibility".
belts are useless, by philosophy, if the holder can not protect them from a worthy opponent.
Exactly!
If he is really as confident as he makes it seem. He would have definately put the titles on the line. I mean why not? You get a double bonus - first you knock off the p4p #1 off the throne and you finally get a successful title defense against someone who is a fulltime boxer.
i hope this scenario will not happen if taylor faces winky (or if they will ;))

Mayweather can't afford to lose. If he loses then he loses his untouchable reputation, which would kill his already weak celebrity. If he lost to Judah he would never even be considered the bigger draw in any major fight. Mayweather has a lot to lose in this fight.
you got a point
how about judah's reputation? granting he loses to mayweather, even in a non-title fight, it would seem that he is an undeserving champ.
if the stakes are higher, everything would matter.
the hell with this business!
what the fuck! then what's the fuss about this fight when both of them can afford to lose?

Judah had a choice, either 50/50 for the titles or 60/40 non-titles. Judah chose the latter. I wonder why.

60-40 split for Floyd, no titles.
That's stupid. He's taking less money than Floyd? There's a good reason he's not putting his titles on the line: He's scared to lose them, and he knows that Pretty Boy is gonna kick his ass.
