I mean Vargas' chin is fragile now, and I dont think two whooppings would mess with someones chin? Maybe he lost confidence. Does less confidence = less of a chin?
Im also not buying the muscle mass slowing Mosley down to a one punch at a time fighter?
Both seem really scared to throw big punch..
Does anybody have an explanation for these two fighters?
It's not the years, it's the mileage. Fighters develop weak chins because your brain can't heal the same way the rest of your body can. How much punishment your brain can take is just a matter of genetics, I guess. Lifestyle outside the ring could probably have a pretty big impact as well. Even if you're in tip-top shape, physically, who knows what drug use could do to your brain in terms of getting KO'd.
I think the punishment Vargas took from Trinidad and Oscar may have been enough to leave his brain a little weak.
Mosley still seems to have a good chin ... maybe in his case it is a bit of the years as well.
hmm
Oh, I forgot to cover Vargas. It's obvious in his case. He just got killed by Tito and Oscar. He also has a thyroid problem (perhaps or perhaps not accelerated by steroid use) and back problem, both of these problems seemingly got much worse after the Oscar loss and steroid-suspension. Either way I just think he was damaged like many others were by Tito, and then Oscar finished the job.
hmm
Someone mentioned steroids...that's interesting. In the latest Ring mag, Doctor Goodman talks about how steroid tests are EASILY faked by boxers and nothing's being done about it. It wouldn't surprise me at all if that was a factor, but, while Vargas was on steroids for DLH, no one knows if he was B4 that and he looked like a mdan good fighter before that, so...I'd say no.
Tito? Ya never know. Athletes have money and managers and I'm sure Don King knows about steroids and probably has his fighters use them in some cases...knowingly or unknowingly. Who knows, but it is a belief by some that steroid use is widespread in boxing, and it's not hard to imagine given the ease with which the tests can be passed. A boxer can use em all through training and as long as they stop in time they won't show up on the test.
Anyway...I don't know what to make of Mosley. I think some of his success might be attributed to steroid use. There were a LOT of rumors about it, but not only that, he was able to go from 135 to 147 and OUTSLUG DLH. He has an unusual physique and power for such a small man. And he has looked FLAT since Balco has fallen out, and there were a lot of rumors about him being involved in Balco. Shane's sudden fall from grace is puzzling. He got beat by Forrest but not so badly that it should have caused him permanent physical drawbacks. If it's not steroids or the cause of Forrest, then it might just be psychological. He is not an alpha male anymore. Maybe all 3 things play a part: steroids, Forrest beatdown, and lack of confidence. Or maybe when he quit steroids he lost confidence and then got beatdown by Forrest...lol.
Complicated issue...
is there an explanation as to why EvilSaint is so retarded?
I'm going to study for finals so feel free to cuss the comp out for hours so I can read it all tomorrow, jackass
everyone's asking the same thing about ur lack of intelligence. you should be more concerned about how many people think ur an idiot before you throw that label at others.

I like Campbell, but that was fucking stupid. Did anybody see the rematch? How the fuck did Campbell get KO'ed again?

Mosley wasn't a great fighter before DLH? Say what?
I certainly don't think he was. I never bought into the Mosley hype til he beat De La Hoya, who was a great fighter at the time. But it was a close fight, and we all know DLH is garbage in the last third of every fight. Mosley barely won that one and never won a big fight before or since. Overrated as hell.
Well said... see DLH put a ch.ink... why is (ch.ink autocensored?) in that macho act Vargas was doing. Vargas did go down like a warrior in the fight against Tito but the fighter that "fights in silk" or something like that (DLH) whooped his "warrior" ass...
vargas did not just recive a physical beating from tito and dlh also a mental one due to his macho atttitude he tried to go toe to toe with tito and it was a mistake i belive his career was over that night the dlh fight was the exlamation point he talked alot about how he hated dlh and that he was not a true mexican and not a warrior and the guy kos him .....very similar thing with shane his loses to forrest really did away with his confidence....when a fighter loses confidence they have nothing boxing is a 95 % mental that is why they keep trying new styles and switching trainers but nothing seems to help them get back to were they once were ....

Neither uses steroids anymore and neither was a GREAT fighter to begin with. They were both above average, but neither was great by any means. Vargas was in 3 big fights and arguably lost all three (Wright, Trinidad, De La Hoya). Mosley was in 6 big fights and arguably lost 5 (Forrest twice, De La Hoya twice, and Wright twice).
How either was ever anywhere near the top 10 p4p is beyond me.
