I had the fight 115-113 for Taylor. However, I also thought the fight was very close and there were a couple of rounds that could have went to either fighter. So, whoever got 114-114 or 115-113 for Hopkins could be validated. Jermain Taylor is a great fighter and will become a star in boxing. However after watching Hopkins' performance tonight, he clearly showed his age. At his prime, he was a predator, preying at his opponent and stalking him all around the ring. However, the Hopkins of today no longer does that. The Hopkins of right now is pretty much a defensive fighter, occasionally throwing the right hand with jabs and feints. Bernard Hopkins probably still could fight for another 2 years because of his superb physical conditioning and ring intelligence. However, I no longer want to see him fight. He's done a lot for the sport, he battled the system and won most of the time but it is now time to hang it up.
Bozo the clown, you're saying you respect Hopkins as a man even when he is TOTALLY classless, won't give ANY credit when credit is due, whines at every possible decision?
you really shouldn't make a habit out of respecting fighters for what they talk about. you should show respect for what they do 'in the ring'. It's amazing how many times i find myself typing that, like having to discipline children or something.

I wouldn't say the guy is totally classless. The guy thinks he won, and he has a reasonable case to make that argument. Should he take defeat lying down? He never said that Taylor was a bad fighter. He just thinks he outboxed him.

Anyone who disrespects him as a fighter is an idiot.
I don't blame him for thinking he won. I thought he did.
Either way, do me a favor and don't talk to me. You aren't capeable of saying anything you can back up.
That's a waste of time.
All respect is lost when you make excuses and cry that you were robbed. I don't respect Hopkins, De La Hoya, Barrera, none of them. Their whole camp can kiss my ass.
Nobody cares about you, or your ass.

And how many people care or respect your opinion when you talk about a list of Hall of Fame fighters like you have any kind of authority or credibility to judge them?

I think he did, and it was a compliment to him.
Hopkins has been showing his age for a year or so now.
He's FOURTY.
How many other 40 year old fighters could have fought such a lively big and strong young challenger like Taylor, and lull them out of their game to the point where their punch output plummets significantly.
Regardless of who you scored both close fights for, you have to give Hopkins credit.
What he did was all he could muster at his age, and pulling out those kinds of outtings on two seperate occasions in back to back fights agaisnt a guy like Taylor is still pretty remarkable.
i'm sorry, even if i wasn't a hopkins fan, i'd disagree, he looked better in this fight than in his last and he's almost 41! I was more accurate, again. He lasted all 12 rounds, no problem. I might not be able to say that he clearly and easily won the fight, but the reason was definately not his age. Altho i always respect opinions.
I never said Hopkins lost the fight due to his age. I'm saying that he is no longer the same fighter. In his prime, his work ethic in the ring was crazy but since he is getting older, his style of fighting drastically changed over the years. I just think that the style that he is fighting right now was slightly detrimental against Taylor.
