I am a Roy fan but not a nuthugger. I think he's a great fighter but I do question his heart and willingness to challenge himself.
I can see both sides of the argument.
But look at this clip. How can anyone not appreciate this?

It's pretty much impossible to have a discussion about Roy Jones Jr. because 90% of boxing fans have already made up their mind about him and couldn't be convinced to change their minds, either way, even if someone had a compelling argument.
Very nice clip though.
Very unimpressive, and absolutely disgraceful.
Vinny Paz was a blown-up flyweight who had just come back from a broken neck. Jones should be ashamed of himself.
chris eubank sucks! :eek:

Beating up Vinny Pazienza doesn't exactly make you the greatest ever. If Roy hadn't been Toney and Hopkins (granted on their worst days each), I wouldn't respect him at all.
of course not, but paz is a good solid fighter, like i said, he beat DURAN TWICE.
its just an impressive clip, and Tu whatever his name is was saying that paz is inferior opposition when he clearly is not
Come on now, their worst days? How do you figure it was their worst days? Thats a comment that can't be proven either way.

It isn't really Roy's fault they were on their worst days.

Well said, lets not forget Tarver is Roy's age, not younger.
~~~~~~1.) Losing all that weight messed his body up
2.) He simply got older
3.) He didn't take the fights seriously~~~~~~~
* Roy still has a legion of apologists. Every fighter gets older. Roy lost to fighters in his age group, and didn't just lose, he was blasted back to his chicken farm. The only weight he lost is the brains he used to have.
Tarver might be in his age group but look how many he fights he has had compared to Roy. And yes, that does make a difference. Jim Lampley is an intelligent man and said Roy Jones is one of the top 5 smartest people he ever met in his life. So he must have some brains...did I mention he is rich and multi-talented. Those are more like facts than opinions, so don't call me a nut hugger.
Vinny Paz is a "legend" in the NY area and he is NO pushover.
paz is from rhode island, and hes a ledgend there, as well as mass, my dad is a huge paz fan
maybe hes a legend in ny as well
I definetly appreciate it, BUT it is much easier to show your dazzling speed/skills vs. lesser opposition.
His two big fights (Toney, Hopkins) He looked alot slower although He was dominating.
yeah, bc vinny paz doesnt have two victories against roberto duran or anything :rolleyes:
Toney then isn't the Toney of today as well.
Toney's style was tailor-made for Roy. Toney is at his worst when He has to be aggressive and on the offensive, much like Hagler was.
But how did Roy look slower? I didn't see that...
