Calzaghe v Lacy gets spring date
Joe Calzaghe's long-awaited super middleweight unification fight with Jeff Lacy will now go ahead in Manchester on 4 March.
Calzaghe, the WBO champion, was meant to face IBF rival Jeff Lacy on 5 November before the Welshman broke his hand while beating Evans Ashira. That led to a war of words between Calzaghe's promoter, Frank Warren, and his counterpart Gary Shaw.
But the two boxers are now finally set to meet at the MEN Arena next spring. American Lacy had demanded that any rearranged fight should take place in the United States.
I think the fans may get behind Lacy, I'm not sure.
I know they speak Welsh in Wales, I was pointing out the fact that Mexico has their own language and their own government. Stop stereotyping all Americans as ignorant about your "countries" that is led my one gov't and one Prime Minister. Yeah yeah it's 4 countries but ask any European if they look at the UK as 4 different countries. Ask an Asian if they think of UK as 4 different countries. The whole world doesn't look at the UK as they do Europe. Sorry. That's just a fact. The UK, to the rest of the world, is considered one island nation (composed of 4 "countries").
You lose your cool way too much and this is just over the internet. Now...my advice for you is to quit being such a bitch about these little things. If people get things wrong about your country, well, correct them. Don't lecture them and insult them. You come out looking like a little spoiled brat.
Ignore Anorak, the guys a retard..........
i live in california and consider anything north and east except for a handfull of states as foreign countries.
doesn't that MEN stadium hold a hundred thousand?will they be doing it at 2AM?because of tv?
No, its holds about 20+ thousand. The biggest place they could get is a football stadium which would be around 80k, theres no point though because Calzaghe vs Lacy wouldnt sell that many(unless Hatton was on the card, which is very doubtful)

Is that the best you got? I bet those pipestem arms can't even pop corn without an emergency call to the EMS for assistance!
you joking juy they'l fill the arena, this is an important fight, maybe not to you but to alot of fans, im paying as much too see lacy as i would to see cal get beat im sure there are alot of uk fans that feel the same
I agree, it is a big unification fight between two very good fighters. It will sell out.
I don't think it is, Calzaghe is very unknown and very unpopular outside of Wales. I doubt they'd sell 5,000 tickets, the couple of hundred loyal Welsh fans of Calzaghe will travel up though I suppose.

Funny Stuff! It takes a Texian to expose some of our British lad's ignorance about their own country. What's even funnier is that they need to take an English Comprehension refresher course to effectively understand what they look at.
Nobody ever said Wales was in England or Manchester. These poor lads got their countries stuck up their bums and wonder why folks is laughin' at them. I bet they get their crumpets and strumpets mixed up with their tea and their pee also!
There ain't no US ambassador to Wales or Scottland any more than there is a Scottish or Welsh ambassador to the US.
You poor laddies have been busted, but we know you've already been busted for rioting since you can't even have a good soccer match without a riot breaking out. Probably fighting over the countries up your bums!
Do you really think that stereotyping is constructive, Mr Bigot?
The area is certainly going to be pro-Joe and anti-Jeff/USA.

did i miss something. manchester is'nt a neutral country. or are you kidding?
calzaghes the best there is but don't see how he can stop lacy from steamrolling him.but calzaghes smart and could try to wear lacy down with a hug and run gameplan and buid up points.
i don't think even ref parris will be able to help calzaghe.
Manchester isn't a neutral country, however it is part of England which most certainly isn't the same as Wales.
That Parris stuff is just plain old country bullshit.

"Sometimes, parts of states with a distinct history or culture are called "lands" or "countries": England, Scotland and Wales – the three constituent countries on the island of Great Britain – are often simply known as countries, even though they are effectively governed as "components" of the British state. The better view is, perhaps, that these constituent parts are not in fact "countries" since they do not exercise full autonomy; their status as "recognised exceptions" to the general rule that a country should have political autonomy points to the conclusion that they only retain the status of "country" to avoid upsetting the national pride of the people who live there. The reality is that the UK is the "country", while England, Scotland and Wales as constituent parts are no more "countries" than Bavaria or New York State (and arguably, the latter "non-country" examples have more political autonomy)." And also stupid and ill-informed.
I agree with what you guys are saying, and feel that bshed is just trying to push buttons at this point...
However, that kallsop post was funny.
Just watched that fight yesterday...Eubank hit Watson with a sick uppercut at the end of round.
I thought Eubank was done after that left right counter and then BOOM! Huge right uppercut sends Watson down and almost out.
The 11th round of that fight is one of the best single rounds in boxing history.
It won KO Magazine Round of the Year in 1991 and also KO Magazine Round of the Decade for the 1990's.
I couldn't believe that Watson was included in the top ten lb4lb at the KO end of year poll for 91 yet Eubank beat him twice and wasn't on any lb4lb rankings and even stranger that Watson was a cripple yet in the top ten lb4lb, fucked up I say.
England war with Scotland. England war with Northern Ireland. England hate sheep-shagging Welsh taffy cunts. The UK are not a unit! We don't like eachother.
