I haven't seen the Mayweather fight yet..
but the replay is on in 2 and a half hours from now...
I hear from lot of people that he looks a LOT slower now..
Does this give Margarito more of a chance now?
(I called it from the beginning)
Mayweather looked slow to me at first tonight, but then i remembered how fast Mtichell once was, and he hasn't lost too much speed. This is just the first time we've seen Mayweather against a fighter with comparable speed.
Margarito is a 147lb JLC, and would give Mayweather a run for his money. he would put Floyd in a fight that Floyd doesnt want to be in, a gritty grind it out kind of fight.I'm sure that Floyd would KD Margarito once or twice, but Margarito would keep coming, and try to maul Mayweather. Marg would make it an ugly fight like Castillo, I and others would like to see this fight, but Mayweather he doesn't want it. I'm next to sure that it won't happen......if it does though, good for us and good for Mayweather for making it happen, because you know Margarito isnt going to turn down the biggest payday of his life....
Thats like saying no one should have talked about winky till he stopped Vargas or became his mandatory. And tito should have never fought him till that happened, then where would winky be then?
Again, unless he wins the actual welterweight championship, Margarito might as well not exist. No one wants to get in there with a grinder for street cred amongst hardcore boxing fans. Now if he were the recognized undisputed welterweight champion, believe me, there would not be a shortage of opportunities. I still think PBF is @ his best between 35-40, but if he's gonna move up, and I were matching him, I would put him in matches of skill, not size and strength. That's why he's willing to fight Winky Wright, Zab Judah, and Sharmbe Mitchell. They are bigger, but they are looking to beat him with skill, not looking to use their face for defense, to put 10-15 pound weight advantages on him to smother their way to victory.
Now would Floyd put up with that if Margarito were THE champ, and a p4p guy that would help cement is legacy? Sure, and he would beat Margarito. Make no mistake about it, if they were the same size, Floyd stops him in 6 or less, the ONLY reason it's looked @ as a close fight is the gap in size. The only time PBF was ever challenged was due to a gap in size, that closed slightly between the first and second fights, and we all noticed the difference.
Margarito must due the things to help himself, beginning with Santos, and stopping by the nearest garbage can to drop that WBO strap.

I think you hit it right on the head,Mayweather would have to bring his "A" game Because if he had problems with castillo then you know he would have a real rough night with Margarito.

Funny how TiB-WaRRiOR made a thread saying Mitchell would KO Mayweather...
Until Margarito stops Santos, he will never get a big fight. Mayweather, Judah, and Winky Wright have all brought up his loss to Santos when asked about fighting him. He is a foot note to the casual sports fan until he makes himself otherwise, by stopping Santos, or dropping the WBO strap, and making himself mandatory to one or more of Judah's titles.
Bottom line, until he either beats Santos, OR makes himself mandatory to Judah to get his chance, let's stop talking about this guy.

well PBF looked good last nite. and TONY always brings it, is a big ass welterweight. any of you think tha size would make a difference? its too close to call for me. all im saying is, PBF should give margarito a shot. i know he'll beat ZAB if and when they fight, then give TONY a shot. im not saying margarito will win, but he'll bring it and give a good fight

I feel liek some people are starting to change their opinion on the prospects of this fight. I get the feeling people know that Marg is very big for 147 and would come into the fight around 160, just walking through Mayweathers shots and throwing relentlessly until Mayweather got caught with something.
I think Mayweather would outpoint him over 12, but Antonio is a big strong guy for a welter and really could just come through Mayweathers punches and grind him down.
I wanna see this or a Hatton fight most right now.

Yeah but you don't know anything which makes you useless.
Margarito is so much stronger than Floyd that he'd just walk right on through Floyd, trap him on the ropes and blast his scrawny butt into buttkinsky heaven. It's the worst possible money fight and style fight for Floyd.
With Hatton or Cotto and Floyd gets some money and a chance to win. Margarito ruins him for life and Winky would make him look like if little MannyP poster boy stepped into the ring and tried to fight. Everyone would be laughin'!
floyd would NOT fight the same fight against margarito, he's like a bigger, stonger jl castillo. pbf would outbox marga, stick and move, not load up on the shots. i don't see floyd wanting any part of marga, though, i think the real showdown will be against zab judah, there's no risk and much more in it for floyd - undisputed at 147
Mayweather eats him up. Margarito is just too open for Mayweather. He isn't fast enough and the only thing he can really do is hope he lands a big looping punch and it knocks Mayweather out.
Floyd didnt look slow, he had a different gameplan in this fight thats all. He was more offensive minded this time. He was more open and what not but that wouldnt be the case against Margarito he would try and box him from the outside.
I chose too hard to call. This would be a tough tough fight.
yeah he looked the same speed as ever...
one just has to consider the fact that Mitchell fights kind of ackward and sloppy at times...PLUS Mitchell has decent head movement so comparing Floyd vs someone like Gatti in his last fight to Floyd vs Mitchell is a bit different as Mitchell was not there to use his head as a speed bag...that is why Floyd went to the body more...
AND also as you said Floyd was going for the knockout from the beginning especially after he hurt Mitchell in the opening round...
one thing to notice about Floyd, is that he is not a blazing quick "flurry" puncher...he doesn't throw 5-7 punch flurries like Leonard did...Floyd's game is more about being quick AND accurate on the release of single, double, or triple punches...he doesn't try to overwhelm guys with slapping flurries...
example...
he doesn't throw 1-2-3-4-5-6 missing nearly all of them
he throws
1 - 2-3 - - 4-5 - - 6 landing nearly all of them
something like that but they all come off accurately, smoothly, and hard...that is what I like about his speed...it is more about landing the right punches where 4,5 or 6 out of 6 of them land rather than missing 5-6 slapping punches to try to dazzle the crowd...he actually pays attention to each and every punch he throws whether he is off balanced or not
plus Mitchell is no slouch in the decent speed department...but in the end, Floyd was too quick on the release and too accurate
Floyd was going for the knock out. He let loose a bit more then normal in his first fight at 147. Like Ultimate said, he was more open because of that. I personally don't think he'll be that much slower so I don't think it gives Margarito better chances.

Mayweather is just to skilled for Margarito...too quick...
Margarito would just be a ducked fighter with broad shoulders...that is the only major advantage he would have...is that he is a bit bigger...
but a GREAT smaller man beats a decent bigger man in this situation...
