140 is the weight where de la hoya had supreme power, speed, and chin to EVERYBODY i say de la hoya beats duran by UD..in a not even close fight
remember 140 is the weight de la hoya beat the hell out of chavez also grabbed him by the head ans slung him around a few times..he basically abused him
well de la hoya was a monster in his prime, dominant with excellent speed, power, chin. lacked some stamina, but he was dam good. duran would be a really tough fight, but i think oscar would pull out a decision
Too bad we can't have a real fight like that!
ODLH could run and outpoint Duran early, without really doing much damage. Duran comes on late and wins a controversial (Las Vegas) decision.
Everyone should watch the Duran - Davey Moore fight. A classic lesson of old school skills overcoming a younger, bigger, stronger opponent.

Duran overrated?
I guess that's why he is easily top 5 all time.
yea and hes overrated like i said..if i never seen him fight and i listend to the comments u guys say youd think he had julian jackson type power a hagler chin and mayweather speed..the guy was a mix between chavez and mayorga..nothing special about him..he swung wildy like mayorga or gatti and cut off the ring like chavez
DLH is not in Duran's level, and i honestly don't think that is a discredit to Oscar. Duran is in the class of super elite fighters, in my opinion. He was one of the most accomplished and well-rounded boxers to ever step foot in a ring.
Everything DLH has to offer, Duran has seen and overcome. DLH has never fought a fighter with Duran's combination of fury, ruthlessness, and skill.
Like some have stated, Duran beats DLH at 135, 140, 147, 154, or 160.
o fuck off...duran was overrated...he fought simliar to chavez..but was more aggresive..he would have ate de la hoya jabs all night long
Duran the Human buzzsaw would have done just that Buzzsawed through De La Hoya. All of you speak of Hoya's great chin etc but remember Duran fought Hagler in arguable a fight that he won and hagler could hit like hell. that was at middleweight. Hoya couldnt even stand up to bernard who is not known as a powerpuncher. Also look how Duran cut off the ring and forced Leonard to fight as well as many other opponents. The only true black eye on Durans career was his loss to The Hitman Hearns but with Durans height he could not reach hearns it was like it was just target practice for Hearns and that cannon of a right hand he had. If you take punches all night and cannot hit a person back of course you go out. Anyway having said all that Duran would dispose of De La Hoya in the later rounds
I agree with a lot of this post. Duran brought relentless but effective offense to the table, coupled with a very underrated defense that saw him slipping a lot of punches and taking some of them on his gloves. At 147 and under, he was a terror and would have broke Oscar down in the early-middle parts of the fight like many have already mentioned on this thread.
I think Oscar may survive to see a decision, but theres a good chance that Duran stops him too. I'll say Roberto drops him once late in the fight and takes 9 out of 15 rounds.

duran didnt beat hagler, no questions :)
duran is a killer body puncher and hopkins showed he dont like it to the body, plus oscar fades late and thats not good when facing a great pressure fighter like duran
Mosely was really the one who exposed Oscar's body...in the second fight he had Oscar hurt to the body a couple of times.

hmm
DLH did beat Mosley in the rematch. DLH COULD have beaten him the 1st time around but he tried to slug with him because he felt he was bigger, but juiced up Mosley had some crazy speed and thump so DLH made a mistake.
DLH at 140 could beat Duran, because Duran would have taken a good deal of abuse in the 1st half of the fight leading him to not be so fresh in the later half. Not to mention DLH has very good size at 140.
Still tough to pick though...
Duran is much more relentless than Tito and he is relentless in a very effective way.
Mayorga is relentless but often times you can watch him come forward repeatedly getting very little done.
Duran was the opposite, he was an attacking animal that was too me not quite as accurate as Tito was but he was so much more effective with his agression.
I could easily see a scenario where Duran stops Oscar late...but the Ball Licker in me also envisions a scenario where Duran is tattered for 8 rounds and Oscar is able to coast towards the end...
Duran would not have let Oscar box like Tito did....therefore Oscar would have had to sit down on his punches and stand and fight...
Oscar at 135-140-147 was real accurate...he would have ahd no trouble bouncing shot after shot off of Roberto's face...but again the home stretch is something that Oscar has never been able to master.
if you can cut off the ring while fighting sugary ray - and make him fight your fight and not give him room to breathe. better believe that he makes dlh fight his fight, duran stops him. maybe early.
