just curious what you guys think, ever since he became a heavyweight he has gained weight in between each fight.
is he going to shape up at some point? or does he think he can just keep this up? just to save everyone from having to look it up here are his weights...
10/4/2003 vs Holyfield 217 pounds
9/23/2004 vs Booker 227 pounds
4/30/2005 vs Ruiz 233 pounds
10/1/2005 vs Guinn 235 pounds
whattaya think is gonna happen? will he say enough is enough?
or are we destined to see a 250 pound james toney??
reports that he weighs 251 2 weeks before the fight, looks like an all time high is on the way............. im saying he comes in at 242.
james gets up to 275 in between fights, 20 or 30 pounds is a lot of weight to lose in a short time...even a fat james toney will school and humiliate rahman, and probably everybody else in the div
hell come in at 250+ and still beat rahman
if he was 251 with 2 weeks to go then hell be around that at the weigh in cause that gave him a week more to train then the week of the fight they dont really train
roach said toney wants to come in that way to be a heavyweight closer to rahmans weight but i dont think rahman will weigh as much as toney
rahman will come in at like 235-240
toney will come in 250-255
If toney and brewster fought i think Toneys plan would be to take the decision.
Seems like hed be playing right into Brewster if he went for a KO
I guess thats true, one mistake and one big swing would see Toney on the canvas.
Brewster will not fight Toney. Toney is his idol and he has expressed many times in the past that he has NO intention of fighting Brewster.
But, money does talk and I think if the price is right Brewster would fight him.
235 and hes good to go against Brewster. If hes in good fitness maybe 230, he will have the ability to KO Brewster, won't be easy though.

I don't believe he will ever come into a fight above 138 or 140. Every one of these fights has seen James come into the fight at a weight that he felt fit to perform, and he's looked damned good so far.
I think he's probably most comfortable right now in the 230-235 weight range. He shouldn't try and kill himself just to get to a weight that the fans find aesthetically pleasing though...
my concern about toneys weight is this. he hazs yet to really be challenged in the heavy division. he hasnt fought anyone who was willing or capable of pressing him at all. and when toney is allowed to lay back and fight his fight he could probably go 20 rounds like that at whatever weight. everyone always talks about how calm he is, well should he be rattled and forced to spend some energy i think this extra weight could come back to haunt him.
toney has always had a "who gives a shit" approach to his weight. id hate to see him drop a fight cause he comes in out of shape, he is one of the few good names left.
there does have to be a point where it becomes a problem. if he hows up at 245-250 for a fight would you have confidence in him?
