Today's a sad day for loyal Klitschko fans. We watched Vitali climb the heavyweight ladder and reach the top. Although he didn't get a chance to unify the titles, his career was still a very successful one.
On his way to an impressive W35 L2 34KO record, Vitali retires having never lost consciousness or even been officially knocked down in a fight. If fact, out of all Vitali's 35 wins, only one man survived to the final bell. Even in his two losses he led on the score cards, only to be TKO'ed by injuries. Injuries that ultimately TKO'ed Vitali's career. He retires knowing that injuries proved a more formidable opponent than any boxer ever was.
Having said that, I've got a suspicion this may not be the last time we see him in the ring. The brothers have always said it's their shared dream to hold heavyweight titles at the same time. With Wladimir on the cusp of a title fight, It's hard to believe Vitali's retirement is truly legit. Due to his injury, Vitali was faced with only two choices, get stripped or retire. Retiring rather than getting stripped is respectful to the sport, and makes a comeback more dignified.
A true sign will be the actions of Wladimir from this point out. If Wlad retires, It's truly over.
Another good thing is the Anti-Vitali Boobs will begin to quiet. The closest most of them ever came to competing in any sport is the mentally challenged criticism championship for boobs.
Although IMO Vitali didn't accomplish enough to be called a great champion, he had some fights that I called great, some that gave him the right to be called a champion, some I will never forget.
Let the flaming begin.
how many other fighters would have stepped in the ring with sam peter...
if it's a good pay day why ta hell not?
Wlad IF HE CAN wouldnt have wanted Pete to be his opponent. HE WAS forced to fight Peter becuz his dream was to get Chris Byrd's IBF. WLAD even sued Byrd so he get a crack at IBF belt right away but it was no go. HE HAD TO FIGHT PETE. It's not that he was showin "hey Ima take ta biggest puncha in ta game and beat him" NO! Wlad's REAL WANT is to beat Byrd, AGAIN!!!!! Which is highly easy to achieve considering Byrd is WAY TOO SMALL and PASSED IT. Easy opponent.
vitali was bad for boxing and any vitali fans are ridiculous. this is a great day for boxing. and hopefully over time we will be rid of the rest of the chicken shit imposters that call themselves fighters. bitchko has lead the way and wlad the wad should follow in his big brothers footsteps and sniff his ass all the way home.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.....................Good ridence.
The sad thing is that even after the so called HW tournament, we still wont have a legitimate HW champ. IMO it will be another 2 yrs until the next REAL champ comes along. He's probably an amature right now.
bozo, u have ur head way too far up lewis's ass.
can u tell what he ate for dinner?
Your head is too far up Wlad's ass trying to get a cell signal to call those up Vitali's ass to comment on anything.
Best thing that could have happened to him. He retired with only a few losses, beaucoup ko's and a hella ko percentage. He had a portion of the title and didn't go out getting his ass beat by some younger but not nearly talented fighter ... like he did to Lennox ..
... oops ...
... i meant, almost did to Lennox.
Fuck Vit ... paybacks a bitch and Life always collects it's debts!
All Champions will be remembered for their accomplishments. The truly "great" Champs are also rembered for particular fights that illustrated their skills and abilities that made them great.
Vitali has no "great" fights. Within a few short years, nobody outside of The Ukraine will be talking much about Viali's fights, since he really didn't do things that are worth recalling. There will always be the gash he took from Lewis, but that's not exactly anything "great" either.
Vitali was/is a fighter who couldn't compete at the top-tier, full stop. His body crapped-out, so he never had the chance to accomplish much, right? WRONG. He had his oppotunity to become "great" by asserting himself on Lewis and building his legacy. He could't do it, despite the disinterested version of Lewis that guys like Rahman and McCall eaily took care of.
Vitali was said to have "retired" Lewis after that fight, but let's compare Lewis' accomplishments as Champ and his place in boxing at retirement, versus Vitali's accomplishments and his place in boxing history at retirement. One's a good story, the other short and uninteresting.
Vitaliy has achieved a great deal and is truly a legendary man for his country, Ukraine.
You are NOTHING, on the other hand. Your only achievement is to post thousands of hateful messages, "Mr. Popularity".
I also like how you felt the need to quote me and typed in something I never said.
The levels of pathetic you stoop to never cease to amaze men.

This coming from a guy who's on his 3rd account after all those instances of being banned for seeking attention and spamming.
Being a legend in the Ukraine has nothing to do with being a legend in boxing, something Vitali isn't even remotly close to being considered.
Nice to see you're just as angry and jaded about this as the rest of the Nut Hugging crew.
we all know that if you dont get your porn license before your 35,
you will never be excepted into "C-H-A-M-P-S"

What? Is that supposed to be a joke?
Anyway, I can see Vitali making a comeback if he takes a long enough break. With the back surgery, torn misiscus, etc. and a huge pressure to defend the title, it rushes recovery time. So hopefully, if he has a long enough lay off he can actually recover and make a comeback. But I won't get my hopes up.
He's given us some good fights and has shown he has skills. Which is good enough for me as a boxing fan.

Vitali has reason to be proud...
He won a piece of the HW title and compiled a nice record, knocking out most of the guys that he fought.
He lost to an all-time great but showed that he possessed balls and the will to fight.
Vitali was never going to be a HOF fighter, but he's done more with his life than a lot of people ever will.
Adios Dr. Ironfist!
couldnt have said it better myself

I couldn't agree more, Vitali had a really good career, not even close to a hall of fame caliber but he had a darn good career.
Vitali shold be proud of his accomplishments.
