I was just thinking that there are a lot of fights where the commentators will be saying one thing about the fight right before a knockdown or knockout. Sometimes it backs their point up or is completely opposite. If you have any, post them here.
Two that come to mind for me.
*George - The difference is that Torres can take Cotto's best shot. Cotto staggers when he hits-
---------------------------
*Steward - his body positioning everything, he's leaving himself exposed when he throws his punches
*Lampley - and he's getting picked off down the middle by Marquez as he did on a quick left hook there!
Easily the best I've ever seen was on the De La Hoya vs. Sweetpea undercard, Mickey Ward was fighting a up and coming prospect from Mexico named Alphonso Sanchez who had a record of like 17 and 0 with most by knockout. He was beating the shit outta Mickey and Lampley and Letterman were both saying how it was a disgrace that the fight was not being stopped because obviously Ward had nothing left to offer in return and was just recieving unneccesary punishment with no chance of winning, about this same time Mickey cracked that fucker with 1 left hook to the body and it was over, that dude didn't get up for like 10 fucking minutes it was great!!!!!
the one the comes to mind for me is rahman vs maskaev, lamply and merchant were saying that rahman was dominating the fight, and right hand by maskaev knocks rahman into lampleys lap, that was great...
surely it's gotta be the english commentators loving up Herol Graham against Julian Jackson 'and he's just falling further and further behind on the scorecards.........oh noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo......that's what we were worried about........oh he won't get up from that!' that was pretty classic
This is a classic...
When Glenn Johnson rushed out and absolutely dominated Roy Jones in the first round...beating him up and winning the round more decisively then any other fighter had ever done against Jones Steward called Johnson and "amatuer."
same fight at start of rd. 9
manny steawrd,"i think we are going to see roy turn it around this round, and do whatever he wants."
moments later, KTFO by johnson
This is a classic...

When Corruies Sanders and Wlad fought, right off the bat in the first Corrie tagged Wlad with a big straight left and LArry Merchant said something like "that was the hardest we have ever seen Wlad get hit"...seconds later Wlad was all thru.
Merchant: "I have a creeping doubt in my mind, Emmanuel, if Manny Pacquiao is really a 130-lb fighter."
Steward: "I agree, when he fights guys like Morales, who naturally weighs 140..."
PACQUIAO STUNS VELAZQUEZ WITH A RIGHT HOOK AND FINISHES HIM OFF!
Manny Steward before the KD in Toney/Jirov was priceless:
"OHHHH he got him with the left hook!"
"Look at this, OHHHHHHHHH AHHHHHHHHHHHHH"
"Oh, thats it, he's got him down, HES DOWN!"
"He'd better do a Julio Cesar and run across the ring right away!"
that last one was especially priceless.
lol i remember that
