How's everybody think Kassim Ouma is gonna look this Thursday? And does he have the potental to be a star fighter?
I don't know what his problem was in his last fight with Roman Karmazin, he looked awful and was dominated in every aspect. I've heard he was battling the flu, or mabey he just underestimated Karmazin. But then it could just be that he wasn't as good as I thought he was.
I thought he was flawless against Kofi Jantuah but then I had him just barely winning his second fight against the ordinary Verno Phillps. Ouma is gonna have to dazzle me Thursday for me to get back onto his bandwagon. His opponent went the distance with Jermain Taylor, but from what i've seen of him he really isn't all that skilled a fighter.
hmm
Its hard to throw punches when your getting whipped.
Nah, not really. Jirov was still hitting near-record numbers even as he was getting whipped by James Toney.
I think he just had a bad night wether he was Ill or whatever, he sure didnt look the same as he usually does. I expect him to come back and look very good.
I saw the fight. Ouma looked terrible he wasn't throwing punches and it was noted that he averages 100 punches per round. I'm willing to bet that he was probably throwing 40-50 against Karmazin.

Karmazin is a very good fighter, Ouma just isnt as good as him.
Taking nothing away from Ouma, i'm sure he can still mix at the top level still.
I never saw Ouma vs Karmazin but maybe someone could pm it to me. Obviously Ouma is a top 154 guy after his wins over the other top 10 154 guys. He maybe was just sick for Karmazin.
That's the way I see it. I also haven't seen the Karzamin fight, but judging by most reports, he didn't seem to be 100%. I'm hoping he can bounce back because he's an exciting fighter and as you said, he's obviously a good fighter and he could be a force in the 154 division.

they only had him for one fight so far and thats karmazin, its not like he has been protected by them or anyone.
he ahs a lot of decent names on his record that hes beat specially for the small amount of fights that he has.
candelo, phillips x2, jantuah.
other mediocre fighters but he took them on so early.
like i said, he couldve just had a bad day.
i think one of two things:
1. ouma is a mediocre fighter with a flashy style who GBP picked up, hyped up, and marketed like mad, and couldnt deliver.
or
2. he just had a bad day against karmazin.
The Ring magazine said Ouma was suffering from Pneumonia prior to the loss against Karmazin! But that might just be an excuse for not preparing for the fight properly!
The were rumors going around that he was sick before the fight happened and was even seen throwing up after a sparring session.

ya...but that aint Karmazim he's gonna fight. that's a lesser fighta!
Why he dint want a rematch wit Karmazim is mind boggling! Or did he want a rematch?
Sure he's not fighting Karmazin and it is probably a good thing...he needs a confidence win before he steps back into the ring with a guy who completely beat the shit out of him.
Ouma will have no trouble getting the rematch or getting a championship fight with his promoters either...he has some problems and remtach against the guy who just fucked you up is probably not the best route to take.
Ouma needs to get on the straight and narrow before he gets in with anyone serious.
I believe that Ouma came in as overconfident and as undertrained as possible...I hear he has some habits that he needs to quit as well.
We should see old Ouma on Thursday night which is a good thing for the sport! I think he has finally gotten the message that his handlers have been trying to get across to him for at least a year now...quit partying and start focusing!

He's going to look like his old self. I'm convinced that he was suffering from the flu in his last fight. He has hinted at it but never said anything or made any excuse.
I have no clue of what happened in his last fight other than Roman K being on top of his game...I think he still can be a major player...but not a star...I like him though
