Larry Holmes Question

i think its true holmes said damn i better get him before he gets me. i had it happen to me in a street fight i got hit hard and just gone crazy

Yeah Ive heard of fighter getting hurt and in trouble, then a huge shot kind of clears the cobwebs for a bit. Probably pretty rare though.

holmes and earnie shavers i remember that fight too and that left hook was one hell of a punch. earnie either knocked you out or he himself got knocked out. even fighting into his fifties, he was the kind of fighter who young up and coming heavyweights wouldn't fight. he hit too damn hard!!!!! i'm reminded of the fight with mohammad ali whom he called "the acorn". ali danced and moved and wouldn't trade with him. holmes had a hell of chin. against tyson, (one of my favorite knockouts) holmes was old and obviously out of shape. against shavers, holmes get up and took care of business. i'd believe what ever holmes said about shavers. oldwarrior

Holmes doesn't know how to fall soft. That guy made a huge thud when my boy "Iron" Mike got to him.

That was one of the most savage shots I've ever seen, and Holmes somehow got up from it. In fact, seeing as how Shavers might be the heaviest overall puncher ever, that might have been the hardest hook ever landed. I think Holmes might be telling the truth. :D

I think i've read a few times, quotes by Larry Holmes regarding his fight with Earnie Shavers, where he says that if Shavers hadn't of hit him as hard, he would have knocked him out. he says something like that Shavers hit him so hard it woke him up or something. so could this be true, could Shavers have hit Holmes too hard? or is Larry Holmes just joking? he was being Larry Holmes
