No, the solution is not superglue :)
The referee should carry a spare mouthpiece for each fighter. If the mouthpiece comes out, the referee puts in the clean one out of his pocket, kicks the dirty one out of the ring and the fight goes on with almost no delay. Heck, carry two spares for each fighter and maybe Castillo would be the defending champ for the rematch.
Hopefully the rematch doesn't have any controversial moments, but I haven't heard of anything done to anticipate another mouthpiece delay strategy.
And if we go by your logic, a KD fighter is hurt. Even if you give him a minute's rest, he will still be hurt.
A disqualification is lame coz it doesn't suit the crime. A point deduction is the proper penalty. Now I hear a lot of Castillo fans saying the mouthpiece spitting is what won it for Corrales.
BULLSHIT! Corrales was down twice, even if you gave him 1 minute's rest, it wouldn't have mattered anyway. The reality is, when the tide turned against Castillo, he couldn't take it and down he went straight.
Following my logic, if Corrales survived the round, Castillo would have had a 10-6 round which would virtually insure the win. Blaming Castillo's loss for the mouthpiece spitting is illogical and funny.
The reason why Castillo lost is that he couldn't handle the heat when it came down to the thick of things.
And that's the fact.
the point is, every fighter gets 10 sec's to recover from a kd for a reason. No matter how you rationalize it, it's still cheating.
As for those that consider us with a different opinion "babies", learn how to debate and accept the fact that different people are going to have different opinions. If were babies for considering that little 'tatic' of his cheating, what does that make you? In denial perhaps? Bad enough we had to see him get a win that way, dont mean we have to like it...so we can DEBATE about it without crying
Following my logic, if Corrales survived the round, Castillo would have had a 10-6 round which would virtually insure the win.
Really? You said before that Corrales fought a brilliant strategy and had a massive points lead.
In the words of the infamous tool Professor Henry Lee "something not right here". Keep it coming, we need some comic relief.
ANyone who says that COrrales should be DQ'd is a lame dummy. It's enough to penalize him with poin deduction. That way, Castillo gets to KO's in one. That's fair enough. Afterall, it's not like Corrales gave Castillo a low blow or something.
the penalty must fit the crime. Getting DQ'd for spitting the mouthpiece is illogical and funny.
No way, getting 30 sec's to rid your head of the little birdies is illogical, considering thats what tko's are all about.
And, going by your logic, if that were the case, hell, they'd all be spitting out their piece when they were in touble...what fun would that be? Tko's and ko's would possibly become a thing of the past and then we'd be stuck with screwed up, inaccurate decisions all the time.
i think it was a smart move cuz evryboxer has dirty tricks. holyfield butts, hopkins punches ur legs in clenches, mayweather pushes/holds his opponents wtih his forearm so he has space to punch, tito low-blows, and corrales spits out his mouthpiece
oh i agree that the mouthpiece helped him servive like crazy cuz the probability of Corrales being stopped after the 2nd KD was very high, but you can't say he only won because of that...
it was the earlier rounds of puishment on the inside(both fighters dished it out and took it though) and a good shot. Corrales still could have been stopped after the 30 seconds b/c of his mouthpiece--->he was tired as hell and lets face it...Corrales isn't known for his defense.
basically i'm saying that you can't say that Corrales won the match just because of the mouthpiece...
I can say it was a much bigger part of things than you're making it out to be. Had he not had the thirty seconds, not only would he be tired, but his head would be full of fog. He couldn't think or move straight for a bit, and he would have been out in a few more seconds.
As stated, that's all heresay, and what has happened has happened, but it was still a bitch move on Coralles' part.
They don't have to be adjusted for certain fighters, they should be adjusted across the board to prevent another bullshit fight like Coralles - Castillo 1. Clearly-- and it's just about undeniable unless you're A) retarded, or B) a Coralles nuthugger-- Coralles would not have won had he not have had over thirty seconds to get his head clear. If he wants that much time, he should get near the ropes and go outside the ring, but that risks further injury.
You have to prevent cheating like that, and that is cheating. Coralles should have been DQ'ed in the first fight, and should he pull that shit again, he will be DQ'ed.
I honestly don't see how people are his fan still. I liked him before the fight, but I can't stand him after that.
Hey, let's give Golota high marks for all his low blows. Let's give Benn his high marks for permanently disabling McClellan. Let's give Tyson high marks for biting Holyfield's ears off. Yeah, fuck the rules! DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO WIN! Pull your head out of your ass, please.
Not if the guy who got knocked down spit his mouthpiece. That's complete bullshit. Stop hanging on Chico's nuts. It was a bullshit move, and he should have been DQ'ed for it. After a KD is not the time to put a moutpiece in, it gives the guy time to clear his head, and Coralles knew that, so he spit the mouthpiece. Seriously, are you retarded or something?
Totally agree... :D
His thirty plus seconds to clear his head won him that fight. Had he not had that time, his head would have been foggy still, JLC would have come in and caught him a few more times, and the ref would have stopped it after a third KD. That's all theorizing, yes, but it's pretty probable that a guy who goes down twice that fast is going to go down a third.

Deliberate spitting of mouthpiece:
First offense - warning
Second offecnse - point deduction
Third - Disqualification
I think this is fair enough.
Three is too many, which should be clear from the Coralles - Castillo 1 fight. The first time a deliberate spit of the mouthpiece should be a DQ.
chico's heart, determination, and left hooks and right hands won the fight for corrales....the mouthpiece trick just gave him another chance.

boxing rules should not be "adjusted" when certain fighters fight.
If that was the case, Tyson opponents should have been fitted with earmuffs after his fight with Holyfield!

I just had this image of the ref spitting into a hankerchief and rubbing it on the boxer's cheek as well, like a mother would :D .
After what happened I don't think any fighter is going to be abel to get away with what Corrales did anymore. But high marks to him for doing whatever it took to win.

Or after a knockdown. Which the ref did.

Fuck giving the fighter a mouthpiece, if he deliberately spits the mouthpiece he either fights with no mouth piece or the ref calls the fight after 1 warning.
If the fight played out the exact same way and Corrales did the same exact things he did in the first fight I would bet anything that the second spitting of the mouthpiece would be the last, the fight would absolutly positively have to be called at that point...
Either that or Diego should just be given 25 seconds to rise from a knockdown instead of 10.
He should be DQ'ed on the first. If the mouthpiece legitimately comes out from a blow to the face, as they have many times, then it's one thing, but to pull it out is a cowardly move, and cheating.
Coralles should not be the champion right now.
Fuck giving the fighter a mouthpiece, if he deliberately spits the mouthpiece he either fights with no mouth piece or the ref calls the fight after 1 warning.
I agree completely - spitting out the mouthpiece is cheating. Corrales got a ton of rest during that last round by spitting out the mouthpiece, twice - I bet that he would have gotten tkoed if he hadn't done that.
Your right it was a master mover/professional move and it clearly won the fight for Chico, however that does not make it right, if it happended again the exact same way the second spitting would be the last...Would you agree?
If not why not give a fighter in trouble 25 seconds instead of 10, why go thru the bullshit of spitting a mouthpiece when we can just extend the count.
chico's heart, determination, and left hooks and right hands won the fight for corrales....the mouthpiece trick just gave him another chance.
IF he looses his mouthpiece he has to fight without one. Very simple.
Exactly and if he spits it a second time the fight is over...
you look good chet, you look damn good!
