I love it. Everybody made excuses when Tarver pounded Roy the first time around and Roy got a decision (by a bogus wide margin) in a fight that Tarver drew with Roy. The rematch everybody said Tarver landed a lucky punch. That's all fine and dandy, but Tarver was ahead on the board, having pummeled Roy once and KO'ed him once. Now, it's all said and done. No excuses. It's history. Tarver goes down as the better man. Roy lovers/Tarver haters can cry me a river, but it's all over.
Tarver = better than Jones
Are Hector Camacho and Terry Norris better than Ray Leonard.
This is a very ignorant thread.
wtf u talking about hector norris and terry camacho own that biotch :D
why is tarver better then roy? roy kicked tarvers ass in the first fight and thats after going up to heavy then losing 20 pounds, the crowd at the rjj/tarver 1 fight are idiots and anyone who thinks tarver beat roy in the first fight suck at scoring
seriously guys.. honestly.. sum1 said it be4.. you wouldve never heard of tarver if it wasnt for roy jones.. roy jones is one of the best boxers out there period.. he was extremely fast and powerful.. now i kno the guy is very cocky and i think he learned his lesson.. but honestly tarver is not a better fighter than jones.. he gave jones tremendous trouble. and tarver won 2 out the the 3 fights.. he did not win the first.. he banged roy wen he went on the ropes... tarver beat roy jones but he is definately not the best out there.. tarver is following jones footsteps.. hes too cocky.. hes up for a rude awakening..
I just wanted to add that Tarver has beat Roy twice and is therefore a better fighter. That's all I got to say. :D
one on one, man to man? Junior Jones is better than Marco Antonio Barrera.
who has accomplished more? Barrera
can Tarver accomplish more than Jones? certainly
Let me keep quoting this.
So I ask you again.
Junior Jones > Marco Antonio Barrera?

When it comes down to it, great fighters find it. Roy didn't against Tarver. END OF STORY.
Tarver > Jones
I now ask you.
Junior Jones > Barrera?

hmm
Pakmen...sorry but your comparisons are ridiculous. foreman relied on power and he got a good shot after getting stomped by Michael Moorer for 11 rounds.
Jordan doesn't get hit in the head playing b-ball, and he wasn't spectacular nor did he win any titles at the end of his career, so you have no point.
the only ppl who won't rate Roy highly are ppl who have disliked him all along...period.
Some boxers hit their prime at different times. Lennox Lewis was able to fight later in his career. BHop still has a fight or two left. Mike Tyson wasn't able to fight effectively later in his career. So I don't think that you saying they are the same age has much merit. Roy's prime was a few years ago.
you can say whatever you feel like now, but Tarver could NEVER stand in a ring with a prime Roy Jones. now thats truth.
Prime?
Dude there is no huge age difference. Tarver is 2 months older than Jones.
Tarver just got a late start in his pro career.
No excuses.
excuses can and always will be made on the behalf of any fighter to ever step into any ring. but when you're dealing with top professional fighters who all really know their stuff, i personally don't believe there to always be a truly better man- i mean obviously in some cases there are. but it's really just always been an odds game that depends on a plethora of factors, from training to equipment, from corner strength to the humidity in the building. everything matters a little bit in any and every given situation.
Answer me this.
Is Junior Jones a better fighter than Barrera because he beat him twice?

it's really quite uneccesary to try to take anything away from roy. he will always be remembered as one of the greats, and tarver more than likely- will not. he'll only be remembered for beating roy jones in the falling after of his career.
