According to Steve Kim over at maxboxing, ODLH has told Vargas that he isn't at the top of the list to be his May 2006 opponent - Mayorga is.
ODLH - Mayorga would be a fun fight, but ODLH - Vargas has that rematch interest and would also be good. Anybody doubt that ODLH would give Vargas a much worse beating this time around? Think - Chavez-Taylor II.
If Vargas can't get his big payday against ODLH, he may as well retire now. He's not totally shot but isn't anywhere near what he once was, and won't be a true contender.
Maybe it's just the usual BS talk to get Vargas more desperate for the fight and take it on terms more favorable to ODLH.
LOL....dayum, way to remove that 4 yr old Hernandez pic kissing ta IBF belt.
I knew that you'd remove it afta I schooled you.
What ever you say bro, Im just happy your spelling is improving.
1.For you to say his looks are the only thing Oscar has going for than you probably never seen him box, the Golden Boy is poetry in motion. 2.Of course hes not gonna fight as much, hes running a promotions company and Im pretty sure if other fighters could do what he does in only fighting once a year and still making the money they make in multiple fights they would do it too. 3. I dont see any difference in what Oscars doing than what everybody else is doing PBF does it Zab does it Hopkins does it, they all look for those big paydays and fight their mandatorys in between.....You think Zab would be fighting Cosme Riveras and Carlos Baldomirs if he didnt have too, I dont see Floyd sign any reasonable deals to fight Wink or Zab. 4.And if Oscar fighting Mosley, Vargas, and Hopkins in his last 5 fights is fighting against people you know for sure youre gonna beat you must think pretty highly of the Golden Boy cause I know I dont think those guys are guys you can just dismiss as competition. 5. And if you hate the guy so much then dont watch his fights and then you wont have nothing to complain about.

the only thing ODH has going for him is his looks thats the only reason he is an attraction, he is way over rated for someone who only fights 1 time a year if that, he is pathetic and should just stay out of the ring, his legacy will be crushed by picking and choosing opponents to fight for big pay days, sure he can do it because he is already rich but I have more respect for an active fighter who may lose one or two here there being active instead of picking to fight someone you know you will win against and only for money not because your hungry. ODH is just a greedy prick who should stay outside the ring instead of us wasting our time watching him.

...ODH only takes fights he thinks he can win no problem.
Most fighters expect to win every fight unless it's a bum against a top guy. Fighting Hopkins was a huge risk for ODLH, the kind of risk that PBF has never taken and never will at the rate he is going. (Mitchell next? LOL).
I happen to agree that Oscar, Vargas and Mayorga are all done but that doesn't mean there aren't some good fights to be had there. ODLH - Vargas would be a huge PPV and a decent fight until Vargas gets KO'd in the 6th round.
If ODLH fights Mayorga, he'll probably win...but I still hope Mayorga knocks ODLH out cold.
I dont see Mayorga getting a fight with ODH, he may want it but ODH is just running his mouth to see what people want, chances are he wont take it because there's a chance he wont win, ODH only takes fights he thinks he can win no problem.
WTF???? Vargas is as shot as 50 cent 9 times!!!!
de la hoya aint winnin a fight eva again!!!!!
Mayorga.....has ta best chance of em 3 to go to betta things from now.
If Oscar fights Mayorga, it makes little to no sense.
Oscar doesn't need Mayorga's belt, because he needs no leverage in any negotiation, everyone knows he's the draw...only Trinidad could argue otherwise.
Speaking of Trinidad, this would be another easy target for Tito fans to accuse Oscar of feasting on Tito's leftovers, and it would be very valid IMO, much more valid than the Vargas case.
I want Oscar to fight Winky and PBF, but I know since he would have a huge disadvantage in both fights in some area (size vs. Winky and speed vs. PBF), he either won't do it or if he does, he'll lose twice next year and that would crush his legacy.
So he's probably looking for highest profile relatively easy fights...but Vargas is higher profile than Mayorga and would be a better win. Maybe he wants Mayorga as a tune up for Vargas in Sept.? Provided Fernando wins a fight or two in the interim against solid competition, of course...

I think oscar is going to fight both and beat them both, But I dont think vargas needs oscar that much because vargas has alot of fans and he also gets paid. all he needs is a creditable opponent.
True, Vargas can make a living fighting bums - but ODLH is a much bigger payday. I can't see any reason for Vargas to be out there now other than to get that one huge payday and retire. Who else can he credibly fight and make ODLH kind of money? Keep in mind that his next big fight will likely be his last because he doesn't have the same skills he once had.
