Dariusz Michalczewski is a damn hard name to pronounce, even for some1 with Polish heritage in them like myself. as much as i like this guy, i have never heard is name being said before, ive only seen his name in print.
can some1 tell me how to pronounce this guy's name?
I have no problem with DM's name. I have problems with Kid Diamonds real name. Also if DM really wanted Jones why didnt he just drop his belt and become a mandatory?

1..Well, it ain't only nutcases who say Roy has a glass jaw. He never faced a big slugger in spite of several who existed in his weight class. 3KO losses will drag him down regardless.
2...Are you just a cheerleader? These were signed contracts on fights reported by the media, approved by his legal representative. The Douglas fight was actually scheduled, the Sanders/Jirov contracts Roy left unsigned in spite of the fighters signing contracts giving in to his every demand in long negotiations. Yes, the last I counted there were 13 era top fighters Roy never met and the ones he walked out on.
3...I could have cared less about numero 3.
4...I would say that DM and Roy were each responsible for not making the fight. DM could've dangled a little more money and Roy could've pulled his head out of his cheerleaders's rumps. Everyone agrees Roy had the style, but then again, DM is one of those sluggers that Roy somehow never faced in their primes. Makes ya wonder!
hmm
Huh? What? What an arrogant tone you take. Are you suggesting that's what I'd say? I don't care who Roy ducked, but a lot of his comp was below-standard.
Yet I've no axe to grind with the guy - I like him a lot. It's just that if I read his fans talking about someone facing substandard competition it's a bit too much to take. Rather like a Muhammad Ali fan (who is my favourite boxer, before you start on that) slating another heavyweight for not being a KO artist.
This is the internet dude. I assumed something about your tone, and you assumed I was hacking DM. Both were wrong. And a Muhammad Ali fan can crack on someone's power all they want so long as it is the truth, as long as the don't try to say Ali's power was better.
Additionally, RJJ's career comp list is good. It's not great, but it's good and you seemed to be taking a side a lot of Brits take which is "Roy ducked every1". My bad if I misunderstood you.
You're exaggerating overboard with your perception of "paranoid" Roy fans. There are PLENTY of haters to justify my stance. Anyone who is a Roy fan has to constantly deal with haters.
Those fringe lunatic Roy fans who say "RJJ KO Ali" are very few and far between.
hmm
The fact that I'd have to explain that to you pretty much sums up your "position" on this for me, so there's no point in me wasting my time.
Let me just go hed' and say it for you. Roy ducked Benn, Eubank, DM, Sanders, Jirov, Lewis, Calzaghe, Hopkins, Toney, Nunn, Douglas, Trinidad, De La Hoya, Gomez, Maske, Liles...I'm sure I forgot someone.
hmm
A thread about Darius has turned into a Royfest after less than a page. I do have to say that - and I do like Roy - Roy fans calling out another fighter for poor quality opposition IS a little ironic...
Not really ironic at all, besides no one is questioning DM's comp. It almost always starts with someone questioning Roy's comp, not the other way around.
hmm
1..Nutcases who post here label any fighter who is KOed with a glass jaw.
2..Roy backed out of signed contracts against Sanders, Jirov, and Buster Douglas. Don't make me list a dozen great fighters that Roy somehow missed. You don't want to feel that dumb.
4..Roy never won a single lineal championship belt in his career. I don't believe in modern lineal titles, but some serious people do and keep track of such things, so Roy was never really the MAN. Moreover, with over 20 title fights, it's impossible NOT to win a lineal title, but somehow Roy managed it.
1) Agred. So why did you say that?
2) Incorrect. Roy never signed to fight them. It was only rumored. Additionally, there are not 12 fighters who he ducked so you simply cannot come up with that list without lying or stretching the truth.
3) You forgot 3...learn some math.
4) Lineal titles lost their significance a long time ago. the RING makes the man more than anything, and Roy had that as well as the people's recognition. Roy "managed" tha because DM would not come here to fight him. I'm not gonna hate on DM but anyone who says RJJ ducked DM is a compelte biased jackass.
[[[ 1) You don't get labelled "glass-jaw" for getting stopped at the end of your career.
2) Roy did not duck anywhere near a dozen fighters, nor has he ever backed out of a fight for which he signed on the dotted line.
4 Roy was considered the champ at 175, and therefore, if DM really wanted the fight, he should have come to the U.S. to do it.

3) Don King is the master of crookedness, and your point is? Don King is crooked not because he favors U.S. fighters, he just favors the dollar. Screw jobs were more whacky and more prevalent in Germany, and it was a direct result of NATIONALISM.
4 Roy was considered the champ at 175, and therefore, if DM really wanted the fight, he should have come to the U.S. to do it. Roy had every right to stay in the U.S. as there are plenty of neutral sites in the states, and, Roy was robbed in the olympics and was stung by that.

DM was a LH only. Roy was a supermiddle/LH. DM's LH comp is very comparable to Roy and they beat many of the same fighters. DM just fought more LHs than did Roy. As far as robberies goes, Euro fighters are robbed here just as often. Check out the Sturm/Oscar fight. Lewis fans claim he was robbed against Holy in their first fight. Hell, just look at 4 decades of Don King promoted fights if you want to look at the godfather of robbery.
As far as DM not fighting Roy, well of course they should have. DM was trying to line up Roy the last few years of his career, even watching some of his fights, but Roy refused to mention his name.
Moreover, DM was making more than Roy in Germany. The obvious location for money purposes was Germany, not the US. Fact is Roy failed to face about a dozen top fighters in his career and had a history of walking out of signed contracts he approved. It's no biggie. After Roy suffers his 3 consecutive KO loss, he will forever be stamped with a glass jaw.
Michalczewski wanted NOTHING to do with fighting Roy.
He didn't come the US, because he was the benifit of many poor German decisions and reffing calls, and didn't want to leave that.
The one time he was in the US was sitting ring side at the Jones vs Hill fight.
It's no coincidence he tucked his tail between his legs and never came back after seeing that fight.
DM fought a lower caliber of competition than RJ. The US judges suck at their job? And how about the dozens of fighters that got robbed due to german judging to german-based fighters? Besides, in a match between RJ and DM, there would have been international judges as well. No, the real reason that DM didn't fight in the US was because german judging was biased in favour of him, and in the US he would have gotten beaten by the likes of julio gonzales (who defeated him in germany).
could you ask him in polish why he demanded parity to fight roy jones, in effect ducking him and why he never fought in the united states, the world capital of boxing?
i dont speak polish... not yet anyway.
he didnt duck roy jones, RJ ducked him along with many other fighters.
he never fought in the US because he thought that the US judges sucked at their jobs, which in fact is very very true.
