Don't get me wrong, Jones would give him FITS - he'd probably lunge past a few of Nunn's punches to throw his own. But I can't see any way, really, that Jones could beat Nunn over 12 rounds, as amazing as Jones was. Nunn was just too good.
Nunn was considered the KING of the 160lb division when it had such depth of talent as Kalambay, McCallum, Graham, Tate, Roldan, Barkley, Duran, Benn, Watson, Olajide, Eubank, Julian Jackson, Toney, Reggie Johnson, Roy Jones, Hopkins, DeWitt, Sims, McClellan, Parks, Starling, Curry.
He was universally seen as the best of the best, and battling it out with Tyson, Whitaker, Chavez and Taylor as lb4lb best in the late 80's and early 90's - IMO Nunn was the lb4lb best at his best, ahead of Whitaker.
Nunn is genuinely the closest thing to unbeatable at his best.
A 6ft3 left-handed middleweight with faster hands and feet than you, smoother boxing skills than you, better timing than you, and left uppercuts that land on you almost every time he lets one go - head or body. He was in a league of his own. Jones was very much a pouncing fighter but Nunn would have timed him with overhand lefts and glided his upper body out of range like he did.
good explaination wanted to bomb you with green k but couldnt :D

i dont know much about nunn except he was a good southpaw and when i seen parts of the DiVella fight a southpaw puerto Rican where jones won it by UD he had lot of trouble adjusting himself to the southpaws and that included Tarver and Nunn is better than boxing in skills too i would imagine.
prime4prime is a tough call, but Jones' greatare achievements make me think Jones by close decision, made even closer by Jones suffering a flash knock down
in the real world:
Jones was too green when Nunn was the force at 160
Jones was too much after a slowly fading Nunn moved up in weight
i :luvbed: you
Roger.
But even you know your hatred for Rjj led you to vote for Nunn by K.O.

Nunn at his best would have been very competitive with RJJ. I agree 100%. A tall rangy guy with great movement. He could've hurt Jones. ON the flip side I think RJJ was a freak at Middleweight. I don't know if Nunn could contain RJJ. RJJ's speed was a blur at this weight.
I see this fight breaking down to a type of "fencing contest" to see who could lead off and then counter the counter. At times Nunn would match RJJ but ultimately RJJ would belt him with the left hook.
I think Nunn would get hit with the left hook and go down for the entire count. But it would be very entertaining while it lasted.
You have to go all the way back to Hagler to find a Middleweight conqueror to RJJ.
Nunn was a great fighter no doubt about that but I agree with the poster that said Roy in his prime would've boxed a cautious fight in route to a UD. I see the fight being a chess match like he fought against Hopkins. I still believe that Roy didn't peak at middleweight but at super middle. I saw on the poll that Ice Man thinks that Nunn would've won. Scully's sparred with Roy & fought Nunn as a pro; wow!!!! Ice Man you have to explain your pick!!!!
roy never fought nobody at 160 that was a michael nunn though!! look at roys comp at 160 and look at nunn. nunn hadedly beats every single one of them and some of them wouldnt hit nunn even once
JuyJUy.........i wanna say fist off that I was ahuge Michael" Second to " Nunn fan whe i was like 12-13 watching boxing as a yound dude. i stil have a few fights on tape. He was really rangy with good movement and I think that a lot of people overlook his great timing and placement of punches. catching people on the end of his jab. All that being said, Roy in his prme really blew me away with his speed, power and anticpation that allowed him to really hurt people if he chose too. I think that this is far froma a blowout but I do give ro the slight edge by no more than three rounds. Would have been a very cautious fight for roy but I see him doing enough to get the Win. Clearly you think Nunn wins this but I am giving this analysis just so that you can see that I have actualy seen Nunn fight. I am a fan. Can you see my rationale even if you dont agree with it?
i do believe that many people havent seen nunn when he was the best pound for pound in the world. to say roy or anyobe else beats him so easy , like by a wide 120-108 decision is wild!!! there was nobody at the middleweight classs other than roy that was like nunn. at middleweight, like when roy jones fougth hopkins, i think nunn beats em. matter of fact, you dont think that nunn that beat sumbu and tate would easily beat hopkins at 160?
