Jones: I’m there on October 1st!
In response to speculation over a reported hand injury, Roy Jones Jr. has issued the following statement from his training camp in Pensacola, FL: "I'm there. Nothing stops the RJJ!" Jones sustained the injury while training for his October 1st showdown with archrival and light heavyweight champion Antonio Tarver on HBO-PPV.

truth,
serious question. No "hating" or joking intended. How do you seriously think Jones can come back and beat Tarver. With his age and two knockouts recently, it is obvious to me that he has slowed tremendously and can't avoid shots anymore. His day is past. Once a guy like that loses his reflexes and speed, he is done. He was a great boxer..but in my opinion taking this fight was a bad idea.
He had an excuse after the first fight
He seemed focused and ready in the second fight
I hope if he loses he does the right thing and gives Tarver respect instead of going "Wlad" and comes up with more excuses.

jones is already looking for an excuse to use when he gets knocked out again. what a joke
I hope Roy can go in there and destroy him the way he destroyed Montel Griffin in their rematch ... no toying, just going out and laying a beating on his opponent. I highly doubt that would happen, but I really hope it does.
i truly agree with you, roy was the best, and can still be the best if he at 100%, i hope to god he is because i would love to see him win and be champion again.
I want Roy to knock him out.
Wishful thinking but if it happens I will kiss some ass in the middle of Main st. wherever it maybe and you can have a half an hour to grow a crowd.
In regards to the fight itself, I can't help but be optomistic for Roy.
I think he's an all time great fighter who's never been the same since losing that weight. If Tarver gets to him again, it really doesn't do or say anything other than that Roy is indeed shot.
What he does have on his side, is that the guy he's coming back agaisnt isn't a vicious and hungry young fighter like Lacy or Taylor, it's a 36 year old Antonio Tarver.
All credit to Tarver for his wins over Jones and Johnson, but he's a good fighter, not a great one.
He's notorious for fading late in fights, and doesn't have the overwhelming output that Glen Johnson had agaisnt Roy.
If Roy is in top shape, and he fights with caution, I think he should be able to pull this one out.
Borikua... 375 mill each. I got Roy and Toney.
A total of 750 million points up for grabs
Deal?
Rippuh are you on my side reguarding Roy Jones...you don't want Tarver to win right?
Greg Leon is in New York, and mentioned several times he was talking to Roy on the phone. No way has Leon seen his hand, or been near his camp. If he had, he'd have been bragging and writing about it non stop.
This still doesn't seem right to me.
Jones is notorious for having very private and secluded training camps.
Eveyone knows if you do have an injury you're going to fight through, the last thing you want to do is tip your opponent off as to what it is.
With the closed camp, no one would have known about this if Roy didn't want them to.
I still think he may be rocking the boat with this supposed injury.
If it was real, it just doesn't make sense the way he's announced it.
What can I say man, I just don’t like the guy....What will you think if he loose and then he pulls the "It was my injured hand" card?
Isn't this supposed to be the "No Excuses Fight"...lol
If you break your hand you break your hand...shit happens. Theres no real proof he is lying. Stuff happens...
I hope so it would be a shame if it got postponed a week though (yeah right?) because then we could all watch the Toney fight and this one without being it being sao conflicting time wise.
- Greg Leon from boxingtalk...that's what he had to say about Roy and his injury, so it is legit. Leon seen it for himself apparently.
And McGay, no one cares what you think of anyone. You are not exactly the poster-child for credibility around here...
Real fans should worry about a fighter's health. If Roy is fucked up, he should postpone or just retire. He has plenty of money and his legacy is secure. The man ain't fallin off the totem pole just for two losses at the tail-end of his career (Ali, Robinson, etc.)
Roy said today he will be there, so that must mean he is good to go. Roy is smart...
hmm
Honestly, brother, as the only press type to speak with Roy Jones Jr. during this "promotion" I'm going to tell you the truth, I believe the chances of the fight happening are 50-50. If Jones isn't at his very best why he should he return from a year off and two consecutive knockout losses to Tarver? The Magic Man will make him disappear for real if he shows up at anything less than 110%. Roy sounded like he wanted to fight, but also sounded like his hand was hurt pretty bad. Our conversation also ended with Jones saying he'd hit me back as soon as he knew if he had to pull out over his hand. Either way, we're going to do our best to get you another update with Jones. - Greg Leon from boxingtalk...that's what he had to say about Roy and his injury, so it is legit.
