Roach is definitely one of the best trainers. Look at what he did with Pac with amplifying what Pac can already do. I was also impressed by the way he had Pac last Saturday use the right hand more. If he can do that he'll be more of a complete fighter & that's an accomplishment. Goosen is also very good with what he's did with Mosley in the 2nd Winky fight & with he did with Chico. I still think the best trainer is Stewart because of his knowldege; he seems like he's a good teacher.
Roach is up there with the top guys like Manny Steward! But I like what Buddy is doing. The way he was able to transfer the knowledge he gained as a fighter to being a teacher, not many guys can or will do that! I look for big things from him.
to be honest Roach has not taught James Toney anything everything he has learned he got it from Bill "Pops" Miller....The only thing Roach is there for is just to keep him focused in the corner and tell him what he sees and if he is down or up in the score thats all....Don't get me wrong i like Freddie Roach cause he is super calm and i like how he does the Mits (wish he could train me but no way in hell that will ever happen....only a dream i guess) but either way the guy is good but the best out now i don't think so but he is up there
when it comes to trainers what i like about them is how they talk in the corner if it inspires you to wanna get out there and fight and the best at that to me is the Mayweather brothers i just like how they talk in the corner it gives you a since like they believe in you especially Floyd "we gon get this son of a bitch" thats classic when he told De La Hoya that in the Hopkins fight
but either way Roach gets his just due
I think Goosen is the best trainer out there right now,as in, theres a noticable differnce in his ifghters I dont think roach even comes close, I think hes average,Pac dosent need him,James toney sure as hell dosent need him,I dont see what work you see there as impressive considering James fat ass his last time, dont get me wrong Im a JT fan,but serously wtf has Roach done? Maybe that Russian, but its the only time anybodys ever even seen that dude,so i wouldnt be too hasty in giving him credit for that. Also like somebody else brought up,Ive never heard roach give any usefull advice in the corner.
Freddie Roach will always be degraded by certain people because they will always judge him based on Manny Pacquiao. I still do think that without him, Pac wouldn't be where he is now. Sometimes, it's not just about developing a certain skill that the trainer taughts his fighters. There's mental toughness, conditioning, etc.
He has worked with 18 World Champions. I don't think it's pure luck.
BTW, that HBO piece of Roach was touching, especially the closeness between him and Pac, like a real father and son.
Emmanuel stewart is the best, and then teddy atlas, and then freddie roach, joe goosen.
Last is floyd senior.
does he mean ever or just todays??
i think ever Duva owns him and today
Stewart is better
but Freddies is real good
No, not even close, sorry Manny. I think hes above average at best. I'm sure any random scrub could train Pacman just as good as Roach does. I mean Pac is so one-dimensional what exactly has Roach taugt him?
Also, even I could give Pac better instructions not just "use ur speed!!!use ur speed!!"
oh I aint talkin jest bout his werk on Pac.
I think he done a good job on James Toney aswell. Addin to tis, he helped Karmazim beat Ouma.
