Do you think JT will ever get to fight Vitali or Byrd before he retires? I hope JT gets one of those fights and a rematch with Ruiz. Whats your opinion?
First I would like to mention that height doesnt matter with Power. Vitali weighed 244¼ when he fought Byrd. I dont understand why its such a big deal for Vklit to go 12 if Wlad did, TUA did and Andrew did...
The four above listed have HIGH KO%. None of them took him out. So that obviously says that hes not easy to KO. I dont think theres much shame in going 12 rounds with him...
I agree. that was a laughable post. byrd was also much more elusive back when vit fought him and wouldnt exchange with vitali. there's no disgrace in not being able to stop byrd. mcline,,tua,,holyfield,,,jimmy thunder,,,and wlad couldnt do it
There is just no way in hell he should be going 10 rounds with Chris Byrd. But he did.
It would look bad that a 6'7 or however tall he is, boxer is going 12 rounds with a blown up cruiserweight.

If you were Ruis would you fight Toney again? Toney had his number big time and there would be no change the next time. Maybe if he lost twenty pounds he might never get hit at all. Two excellent fights to be had with both Brewster and Byrd. These should happen. He probably is to slick for Brewster but if Brewster can keep the preasure on and Tney s fat fat fat again anything can happen in the middle/late rounds. Byrd would be a great fight maybe comeing down to heart and despite Byrds shameful ducking of Wlad Klitsco he has still shown unbeleivable heart when he fights. I thought Ibeabuchi killed him and he still got up. Its a pickem fight. He has no chance against Vitali who because of Toneys lack of power would just wade in (well not in but just out of Toneys range) and finish it quickly. One thing for sure we need him back in the ring and fast and not against stepping stones.
I think so..I dont see why not..I dont think any of those guys have his skills, Byrd maybe but JT..is slick and elusive and doesnt have to run to do it. thats what makes his so damn good and effecient.
James Toney is good enough to beat anyone in the heavyweight division on any given day. He's a master of the sweet science and a scientist in the ring. He's also a natural fat-ass which makes him a natural in the division.
If he could only get some roids that they can't detect!
I said he should. Or meant to say he should KILL Toney if they fought. But he usually doesn't perform like you'd think someone with his abilities should.

I think Toney is better than Byrd.

Now do you understand?
This is part of the reason why Vitali is a pussy in my mind. In addition, he's fought more bouts as of late in the courtroom. There is no excuse for ducking people like Vitali has and fighting the people he has since the Lewis fight.
Bad management as he failed to capitolize on the fans that like him after the Lewis fight.
Vitali should beat Toney (I dont think he'd KO Toney as he's too slick for Vitali). But what happens if this fight goes the distance? Wouldn't that look bad that Vitali had to go 12 rounds with a much smaller cruiserweight? If I were a judge and as the rounds progressed, that would look terrible for Vitali.
DId you just say you dont think that Vitali would KO Toney, give a good reason for that and then say it would look bad if he went 12 rounds with him all in the same paragraph??
Good points.
But with Vitali, there is what he should do with his natural physical gifts and boxing skills and what he actually does.
Big difference.
Vitali should have taken out Corrie Sanders. Rahman did when Sanders was younger and more in shape. Vitali should have taken out Danny Williams earlier. But Williams kept coming back for more. Many, including myself, feel that a healthy Tyson would have KO'd Williams earlier than Vitali.
Vitali should have made short work of both out of shape men, but he didnt. Those fights lasted much longer than they should have.

Toney vs Vitali Klitschko would be a true david and golaith fight. toney has tons of skill, no one would argue with that, but how on earth he would outbox Klitschko i don't know. the knockout possibility is also very unlikly as klitschko has took bombs from the likes of Lennox Lewis and Corrie Sanders. i think Toney would get beat bad, i think theres a chance he would last the distance though.
I dont know who is a more potent offensive fighter than Wlad and I dont know a better defensive fighter at heavyweight than Toney. You can agree or disagree on that. I just think Toney vs Wlad because of their styles and difference in size makes an intriguing matchup.
and the rock hard chin as well?
let me tell you a little story about a guy with loads of offense but no defense and the worst chin the division has seen in a good couple eras vs. a guy with the best chin in the business, the best defense in the business, who also happens to be one of the most skilled, most accurate punchers in the history of the sport. i'll make it short. the 2nd guy wins. :D
What the f**K are you responding to peabrain. I said Wlad has blistering offence. I said it would interesting to watch the defensive master deal with giant Wlad's blistering offence. F***ing hell.

he already did win the HW title. i heard it myself: "...and NEW heavyweight champion of the world... James LIGHTS OUT Toney!!!" i heard it, i saw it, and i jumped around the room in joy when i realized that ruiz retired after that fight.
only a few days later, i almost cried when ruiz came out of retirement, toney was stripped and suspended, and ruiz was GIVEN the title back (on another fucking silver platter) EVEN THOUGH HE LOST AGAIN.
toney is only the 3rd person to go from MW champion to HW champion (the other two are Bob Fitzsimmons and Roy Jones).
Well he woudl definitely destroy ruiz in a rematch, look at what he did to him with being on steroids (which doesnt help you at all, it slows you down and makes your energy worse) and with only training 4 weeks for the fight. imagine what he would do to him being completely healthy and putting 8+ weeks in the gym in. if he does fight ruiz in a rematch then fine ill never not enjoy seeing toney beat up the fag, but is this really a point to it, i mean does anyoen seriously consider theyre fight a "no contest". i sure as hell dont and as far as im concerned toney is THE UNDISPUTED HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMP OF THE WORLD. look at his last opponent he beat and look at the other champs.
first is golota wich is who brewster beat and ruiz beat golota.
klitschko beat williams who is terrible anyway.
byrd beat mccline who definitely would lose to ruiz.
toney beat ruiz which is the best fighter out of any the guys that the other champs have beaten. its only a matter of time before toney gets those belts around his waist to and is publically knows as heavyweight champ. byrd would be his toughest fight. klit would be embarrassed by james skill and defense. brewster is so unskilled its not even believable.
toney is going to rule the division.
lmao. dude youre clueless. toney would get picked apart and dominated by vitali. toney isnt strong enough to bull his way inside. that would be an ugly mismatch. I think even byrd would have a good chance at beating toney. sorry,,,but beating a shot holyfield and a bum ruiz who was knocked around by little roy doesnt impress me,,lol. espescially when he needed steroids to even fight ruiz
I think Toney could win the heavyweight title. People say that Byrd would be an easy fight for him because Byrd is small. This is a major misconception. Against Byrd Toney will have to be the agressor and he is not at his best having to fight like that. Byrd will leave few opportunities to counterpunch. It is sort of a bad matchup for Toney stylistically. Byrd moves, fights defensively, has the reach on Toney. Has the makings of a very boring Byrd UD. I might be underestimating Toney's ability to fight going forward though just a tad.
Toney would however beat Brewster just as easy as "sipping a cup of tea."
I hope at some point Toney fights Wlad. To me that would be one of the intriguing and interesting fights ever. It would be interesting to see how the defensive master counterpunching Toney would cope with the Blistering offence of the giant Wlad.
