Foreman was an arm puncher . If thats the case how come foreman didnt learn to punch properly after his defeat to ali and knock ali out . That article is bullshit .
Screw Mike Tyson. I'm tired of hearing about the guy. He was washed up in the late 80's, and I question how he really would have measured up against any good fighters in his prime. He never fought anyone worth a damn back then.
He fought guys like Carl "The Truth" Williams, Razor Ruddock, Bonecrusher Smith, James Tillis. These guys sucked. Mitch Blood Green, give me a friggin break. Let's face it, he went down hill as soon as Cus died. Somehow we are supposed to feel sorry for this guy? He had the world before him, and he was too stupid to seize it. He lived the good life, and he ripped off his fans by being a fraud.
He dodged Holyfield until he thought he was washed up and then got his ass kicked anyway. He found ways to make money by being a WWF circus attraction rather than a student of the game of boxing.
He fought Lennox Lewis for the money, and never had a chance to beat him.
He had his ass kicked by James Buster Douglas, which was the first time he faced a skilled heavyweight. Buster wasn't that great, to be honest but then again, neither was Mike.
It's time to put the myth back where it belongs, in the fiction section of the library, because Mike Tyson being the greatest of all time definitely is science fiction.

I've never been a big Tyson fan, not at all but it is very sad how he's wasted his fortune and ended up where he's at today, :(

I know foreman hit much harder than tyson but he was not an arm puncher he didnt get the full leverage on his punches like tyson but he still got a lot leverage on his punches and foreman isnt the only fighter who made a fighter quit with his power . Andrew golata quit after 2 rounds of fighting tyson when he felt tysons power , tyson broke the vertebrae in his back fractured his cheek bone and made his brain bleed , now if that isnt power I dont know what is ? .
So this is basically just about comparing Foreman's power to Tyson's?
Arm punchers don't push off with their back foot, they don't pivot and twist their bodies to get extra momentum into their punches. Foreman did those things to an extent, but he always slapped rather than throw punches in a way so that his elbow would be actually following the same route as his wrist and his fist, the way Tyson did. Ali punched with his arms alot, it allowed him to pile up points while retaining his handspeed and allowing him easier escape, as he was almost never fully committed to any of his punches.
Ok thanks. I kinda figured it was something like that, when people where saying that it helped him retain his stamina, but i wasnt 100% sure.

And what the fuck is an arm puncher?
I didnt realise there where punchers who punched without their arms.
Only messin but what is an arm puncher in opposition to?

I dont believe foreman was an arm puncher no puncher who becomes heavyweight champ is an arm puncher .
You can become heavyweight champion when you have the body of an Olympic powerlifter with the handspeed of Larry Holmes.
George Foreman didn't move around the ring a whole lot, and he didn't have Ali like speed, but he had fast hands, and when you couple that with the un-natural power he had, people got hurt.
I watched all of George's comeback fights and it definitely was a joy to watch a man that strong and that old just knock the crap out of young and tough fighters.
He fought Adelson Rodriguez, and hit him so hard, the man's eyes were crossed for at least 5 minutes.
He KO'd Gerry Cooney so hard that I didn't think he was going to survive the brutality of it.
The man was an arm puncher, but what a set of arms he had. He looked more like a pro wrestler in the weigh in. I always thought that they also listed his height and weight a little low. It sure looked like a 300 lb gorilla in there rather than a 250 lb man.
I always felt that Mike Tyson would have been just like Bert Cooper had he fought George. Bert Cooper quit early in the fight with George, and do you know what his excuse for quitting was?
"He's a big man" was what Bert Cooper told an interviewer directly after a fight.
How many times have you every in your life watched a legitimate heavyweight contender climb out of the ring and refuse to fight a guy because he hit too hard?
Big George, he could be beaten, but you had better have a concrete chin and a big set of balls to climb in the ring with him!
And what the fuck is an arm puncher?

Son, let me explain.
fighters like foreman, even a young foreman, with advanced fighting experience(he fought grown men from age 14-15) KNOW, REALIZE, AND UNDERSTAND that if you put everything into every punch you are only setting yourself up to get punked. That's right just take a look at cottos fight with corely, cotto did what you are talking about trying to 'be the pride of puertorico' or whatever the fuck and ended up punking himself.
the thing is, in boxing, unless you're a supernatural god like bernard hopkins, you are gonna get hit. if you put everything into every punch, theres a good chance youll get hit when you're transferring that weight. this is bad, because it takes the leg strength you used to generate the punch you are about to throw, and places it in your opponents favor, by directly applying all power to HIS GLOVE to YOUR SKULL. not a good xfer.
foreman was the master at arm punching. open gloved style, he'd catch your punch THEN throw the big weight xfer punch, until he saw you fuck up though so he could CAPITALIZE on that, he would just plod open gloved style with arm punches, THEN let loose the catapult when the time is right
tysons people knew better than to throw him in there with that fucking legendary animal foreman was.
"He would just come in, grunt, throw punches, go home."
-bert sugar, commenting on foreman
Sorry but foreman was not just an arm puncher in his early career. he did turn his weight into his punches. even when he got whupped by ali,,,he was clearly leaning over and turning into those body shots when ali was against the ropes. now the older goerge was mostly an arm puncher. he pretty much slapped with a lot of his punches,,,,but dang,,,,even his b*%$^h slaps were hard
Ali never said that foreman hit harder than shavers . Ali said this , ali said that . Some other moron on another site said that ali said liston hit harder than shavers and foreman . The whole lot of ye are full of shite .
Foreman threw arm punches....not all the time, but he threw a good amount of them.
But, he's the heaviest-fisted human being (though Shavers was a bigger puncher) to walk this earth, & he could hurt a guy just by putting his hands on them.
When he did get leverage, he was frightening (last left uppercut versus Cooney).
Well, whether you agree that he was an arm puncher or not, no one can deny that he definitely compromised his power somewhat with his wide punches. He hurt or KO'd opponents sometimes with only glancing punches. If he'd been more precise with his punches, and had the benefit of optimum leverage through proper punching technique, there's no doubt in my mind that he would have killed someone.
That guy is just like the rest of us, he learned about boxing by being a fan, or maybe even trained to be one at some point. Everyone has their opinion of what one thing is, and he gave you his. Sam Kellerman is also an "expert" boxing analist, but he says some of the stupidest shit sometimes...
Foreman was not an arm puncher .I just emailed boxing commentator and boxing expert steve holdsworth and asked him was foreman an arm puncher and he said no he wasent and this guy knows a damn sight more about boxing than any of you clowns . I should of known better than to listen to a bunch of casual boxing fans ? .
Damn formman was an arm puncher? then he most have had some heavy ass arms because he was a devastating knock out puncher. I always wondered how his punches that looked so soft could lay someone on their ass. Maybe cause he always kept his feet planted and all that weight just flew into his punches.
But imagine if george threw a full body punch???? damnnn he would murder a guy, if he could knock dudes out with arm punches what would he do with total body weight on that punch?
Foreman was basically an arm puncher. Even when he did pivot with his punches, he compromised his power by throwing with his arm almost completely extended. I don't think there is much he could have done to improve his handspeed, as even when he did jab his hands seemed heavy and slow, but if he had used a defense more consistently and learned how to throw shorter punches when he was close to his opponents...
I don't think the article is bullshit, I think there is a lot of truth to it in respect to Foreman's KO ratio and the way he acheived it with his amateur level skills. When he fought Ali, I think a big part of his loss was that he believed his own hype big time by that point, and who would have expected Ali to stand up to that body attack anyway? If George would have just jabbed to the head and thrown shorter and fewer punches to the body, it would have been a better fight. That's one time I guess he shouldn't have listened to his corner when they told him to keep it up lol. As for Norton, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but to me George looked bigger than Norton in their fight. By the way, does anyone know where I can order Norton's fights with Ali? I've never seen them, and of course, they are never shown on cable, I guess because people say he's the only man Ali was never able to convincingly beat. Notice how they almost never show Ali vs. Frazier I either lol. Anyway, big George is one of my favorite fighters ao all time, and I felt I needed to comment.
