Top Rank was the winner of today's WBC purse bid for the right to promote the world heavyweight title fight between champion Vitali Klitschko and interim champ Hasim Rahman. Top Rank submitted a bid of $12.1 million, Don King Productions bid $11 million, K2 Promotions bid $10.7 million and Bobby Hitz Promotions bid $6.7 million. The split will be 65/35 with Klitschko making $7.5 million and Rahman $4.6 million.
I cannot believe Rahman is getting $4.6 million for this fight. I also cannot believe Don King lost this purse bid, something strange is going on.
well i'm not a Rahman fan and i'll never be a Vitali fan.......so i don't really have comments on this but i saw someone talking about Byrd man Byrd will fight anybody anywhere all they gotta do is pay him his money and sign the contract ......everybody in this Forum knows byrd does not run.....if Byrd vs Vitali or Byrd vs. Wlad ever happened again i'd put all my points on BYRD.................
By decision of course
Byrd was oferred to fight Wlad and first he didn't want to fight him in Germany. When Wlad said that he will fight Byrd anywhere, it wasn't enough money for Byrd. You tell me how it's not running. The fact is, Byrd would probably fight Wlad but good old Don King will never let him near either one of Klitschko until he gets options on them. Looks like Wlad and Vitaliy know better then that...

King does all the running for him and Byrd is just ducking... (Byrd Ducking haha)
And I got to tell you.. you've got some heart... risking all that 2K points is really something
Who's alter ego are you anyway?
I am still fucking cracking up that Don King is not going to be promoting this fight. After all the shit this big haired cocksucker talked about Vitali only to lose out on the purse bid is fucking classic!!!! I wonder if this cocksucker plans on being ringside the night of the fight.
Vitali should definitely watch out for his lockerroom and water bottles the night of the fight.

good luck to them all........the most highest paid average heavyweights in history........i can't believe they will be getting paid that much......
and gee, rahman and vitali must be elated with that news.........

Hopefully, Don King doesnt spend his part of his losing bid to fix the fight so his man can win.
I think Brock vs Vitali would have been the better fight.
Rahman sucked ass in his last fight, in fact neither one of them would last more than 5 rounds against VK that night. The best fight I could think of would be VK vs. Byrd, I would love to see VK avange his loss to Byrd. Unfortunately, Byrd knows better and doesn't want to get near either of Klitschko brothers. I have no idea why VK gets all this bashing about his inactivity when Byrd sucks his thumb for almost a year now. At least Klitschko had an injury...
This fight will do good if they Hype it right. They are gonna go overboard using Lenox Lewis's name as a selling point (i.e. Rahman last man to knock Lewis out - Vitali was the man that retired Lewis, yadda yadda yadda)
A big known white guy vs a big known black guy does not hurt the sales either. I would not doubt this fight does well.
I think the PVP numbers will being even higher if Wlad puts on a good performance and beats Peter. The way that fight is being hyped it should have a good amount of viewers including ones who do not know much about the HWs. If Wlad does well these possible new fans will know the name Klitschko well and may lead them to the PVP card.
The only thing thats worrying me (im a klitschko fan) is that he hasnt fought a decent opponet since his fight with sanders. Plus he hasn't fought since the willaims fight. Also, Rahman has that jab, he could jab with vitali. I have faith in klitschko put im still worried even tho rahman didnt look so good against monte.
Sanders came in out of shape, no idea why. So he didn't have much chance of winning. Danny Williams is a pile of crap. So in fact he hasn't really fought anyone since his fight with Lewis. Hopefully he is going to get lots of sparring done. Rahmans jab is terrible compared to Vitali's.
Thats why its going to be a good fight!!! i remember when vitali fought sanders that was a good fight while it lasted sanders showed alot of hearth he took alot of hard shots!

I think the PPV will do OK!! If A Hopkins fight did good on PPV then they'll do ok no disrespect to hopkins I think he's a hell of a good fighter not entertaining but good!! everytime he fights none of my freinds ever watch cause they think he's boring, so what I'm trying to say that if hopkins did ok on ppv then the fight between vitaly vs the rock is going to do pretty good, I think even though his poor perfomance vs barret he still has a hell of a good chance to beat Klitchsko, and I also think vitali is one of the most entertaining heavyweights thats out their RIGHT NOW so it should be a good match Top rank did good on winning this purse bid. Don king is probably going bananas over this one!!!
PPV sales would have to be like 350,000 or better. I personally think more people would tune in to Wlad vs Peter. Especially hardcore boxing fans know that this is the better fight. However, thinking about it I want to see how Vitali is going to look in this fight. Hopefully he wont make too many mistakes, cause Rahman's hands are long and strong.
...Oh fuck man, it don't matter how long and strong Rahman is. He got clean shots on Monte fucking Barret and didn't even dent him. Barret only threw about 20 punches and hurt the rock on at least two occasions. Vitali is gonna fucking kill Rahman. This fight will be a joke. Rahman may rush him like he says, and he will get the Kirk Johnson treatment. Remember who called it first.
those figures would seem way too high for this fight, how the hell is Vitali getting 7.5 mil? and since Rahman is interim champ i thought he was entitled to 55-45 split?
...After that stinker he laid in the Barret fight he is lucky to get what he is getting. Truth be known he probably deserves 10% of the purse.
haha Arum laid down that much on this atrocious fight knowing Vitalis last fight lost a ton of money...Bad move on his part and shame on him....He would be making more if he would have paid 50k for JMM mandatory fight and thrown him on the undercard of Pac-Morales and made more that way to beef up the card...HAHAHA this is going to flop and flop hard....Know heavyweight is worth that much.

I also think this is way too much money for this fight. But Vit seems to have quite the following nowadays.
I wonder if this fight can generate enough money to justifiy what Top Rank is going to pay these guys. Especially with Rahman's sleepwalk of a performance last weekend.
Will the gate and PPV cover this kind of payout?
Don King has always tried to keep a stranglehold on the heavyweight division because that's where the big money usually is.
I guess Rahman got his wish. He said that Don King offered him 2.5 million and he didn't want to fight for that little so now he is getting 4.6 million. I wonder if he is going to complain, I dobut that he will cause this is a ton of money. Vitali is getting a good amount considering he is the heavyweight champ. I think Top Rank is trying to appeal to Klitshcko because he is self promoting right now I believe. Don King losing the bid is priceless.
