Out of the young class of fighters on the way up, who will be the next big superstar? I think Floyd has already made it so he is out of consideration. Is there another Ray Leonard or Mike Tyson out there? Who has the most potential?
by superstar do u mean being marketable like dlh cuz if u do theres none out there right now.
Thats the same thing im thinking, Maybe just Cotto because Puerto Ricans want to see a next Trinidad and Cotto is on his way, maybe, I doubt he will turn out like Tito but he will never be as big as Oscar or Tito for that matter.
God i hope there isnt another Ray Leonard out there! Thats all we need is another pussy getting wins by judges because hes the crowd favorite. Give me more Marvin Haglers and Hearns...
sam peter (until hes exposed)
floyd mayweather (until he chokes)
ricky hatton (until the american public tears him apart)
calvin brock (until he chokes or is exposed)
jermain taylor (until the hopkins rematch when he'll be exposed)
jeff lacy (until he gets beaten)
IMO i dont think there will be a CONSISTANT star in boxing until the entire sport is revolutionized by a single person. and no, it wont be floyd mayweather for one simple reason: the non-boxing public hates his arrogance.
chavez jr. hes got the name, and lots of people like him. in a couple years wen hes at his prime hes gonna b huge. maybe cotto, hes an excelent fighter also. i dont think taylor, lacy, or wlad will becum very big. andre ward has a better chance, but he still has allot of boxing to do before hes classified as a "great fighter"
Although I'd say Cotto all ready is pretty big, he is the most obvious.
After that I'd say Lacy has the best chance. If he beats Calzaghe he'll probably move up in weight and continue to dominate.
I don't know how people can say Taylor when he struggled to win a decision (luckily) against Hopkins. If Taylor clearly wins the rematch there's a good chance he'll become great. If he loses it's just one more could've been. He'll be a good fighter, but unless he rapidily improves he'll never scratch great.
im still waiting for the next de la hoya..i would love to see a young guy that boxes like hoya
You might want to see this Kid Jose Navarro,Managed by DLH,actually reminded me of DLH when i saw him fight, his one loss(W 22 (10 ko's) | L 1 | D 0 | Total 23 ) is BULLSHIT,he went to japan, beat the shit out of the that clown for twelve rounds, and got robbed blind (split decision actually, but this fight was by no means even close) But he gets to fight for that belt again, but its another Japanese cat.The only bad thing you can say about him,is that KO power just isnt there, too bad i guess, but he's still a very slick & fundamentally sound boxer, add him to the list of next Superstar.
