Today I watched Duran Vs. Kobayashi on ESPN Classics, where Duran is fighting at lightweight I believe. Even though the fight was recorded in B&W and the quality is horrible, Duran's warrior style looked a lot like Morales..
What do you think?
So, what's Morales up to? Is he gonna venture into 135 and follow the footsteps of Duran or not? Or is this schedule with Pacman at 130 in December written in stone?
He's scheduled for a fight at 130 with Zahir Raheem in September. I think he's going to rematch with Pacquiao in december or early '06 depending on what happens in that bout.
There was talk about him moving up to 135 and facing Levander Johnson, the new IBF champ, but I don't think he's moving up until at least March of next year.
Morales chin is better then Duran. Duran was knockdown too many times, Duran was also KO. When Morales retires he will be ahead of Duran. If they ever fought, it would've been a classic brawl. It will be a hard fight to pick. And Duran fought like every 2 month...
I don't think ANYONE can avoid being KDed if they had 100+ fights with like 2 month interval between majority of them
Haha that's laughable. They also rated Trinidad as the best Welterweight ever so I'll trust that sites rankings about as far as I can throw em.
A case can be made for Morales at super bantam definitely, but I don't know about anywhere else.
Sorry Gringo,
I see Felix Trinidad as #18 in the Middleweights.
Well, if you do look at best supper featherweight of all times on Boxrec.com they rate him as #1 :D

Im tired but that shit still made me laugh. Put something beefy on your upper lip? I never heard that one before but that shit is too funny. I like that
I think you deserve to have your nutsack bounced off the back of your neck for mentioning the great Duran and chiuaua dick Morales in the same sentence, you Fag.
Congratulations little dick face, I'm promoting you to #1.
You've reached the Gold!
As jose said they have different styles, but both were greats. Duran was a boxer/swarmer and Morales is more of a boxer/puncher. Duran's defense was very underrated though.
Both guys have the warrior mentality and both guys could be argued as being the best ever in a particular division. Duran was a freak at 135 and Morales was a monster at 122. Both all-time greats.Well, if you do look at best supper featherweight of all times on Boxrec.com they rate him as #1 :D
Maybe they don't have the same fighting technique, but what I meant by warrior styles is that mentality of going forward.. willing to take a punch to land some.. willing to stand and trade..
You dont even know what you are talking about right now cream-cheese cracker smacker.
However Morales is nowhere near the level of Duran. Some think Duran was the perfect fighting machine. Morales is good but not Duran good
I agree with you. I do however think that Erik's greatness and what he's doing right now is being overlooked by a lot of people.
He's going to become the first Mexican fighter to win a world title in 4 weight divisions and he's one of the rare guys who seeks out the hard fights all of the time. He went from Chavez to Hernandez to Barrera to Pacquiao...thats insane. It's possible that he may not be a 4 div champ but theres a very good chance he'll do it.
He's also probably one of the 3 greatest 122 pounders ever, and could be argued as #1 or 2 alongside Bazooka Gomez. 36-0 at 122 and great natural skills.

Duran and Morales fight in two different styles, Duran is a swarmer who puts constant pressure where Morales is a stand up boxer/puncher types.
But yes both are very serious warriors who are all time greats.
