saw this kind of "list" thread for Taylor and i almost threw up a bit in my throat so i thought id give it up for the Hopkins supporters, and don't hate before you read:
Reasons why Hopkins will win the second fight
1. No loss in confidence
If ANYONE in boxing today can rebound from something like this now, its Bernard Hopkins. Hopkins felt he won the fight (And recent history shows when Hopkins feels a certain way, there's no changing his mind). He's not even looking at this fight as a loss. This would be different if he had been beaten clearly which was not the case last night. And yes, Taylor was dominated at least one or two rounds last night.
2. Hopkins proved he is WAY better conditioned
It looked obvious after watching the entire fight that Hopkins was the better conditioned of the two. Hopkins continues to train like a man fighting for his life and with this rematch in mind, will continue to do so until he holds the titles again. The reason Taylor was saying "I'll train harder" and "I'll be prepared for the rematch" is because he's a smart fighter and KNOWS he was outran that night. He is admiting it, which is the right thing to do. Now we'll have to see if he comes back better prepared to defend the belts, if so, he stands a good chance at making it 2-0 with B-Hop.
3. He'll learn from his mistakes
Bernard Hopkins is probably the smartest fighter in boxing today. He may not be quick to admit it, but he knows he made mistakes too, otherwise he would have won. I think he will realize that he does have to fight a more "complete" fight so as to give the judges more of a reason to give him the decision instead of waiting to bring the action forward towards the 6th or 7th round. Other than the lack of activity in the first couple rounds, i saw nothing wrong with Hopkins gameplan, once he got in a rhytmn, he had Taylor confused as to what to throw and boxed "his" fight.
4. He's got destiny on his side (i know, thats cheesy as hell)
The fight between Bernard Hopkins and Jermain Taylor last night was very close, just as most predicted. It wasn't a one-sided fight in any way, shape, or form. All credit where due to Jermain Taylor, he came harder in more rounds and took the close, close decision. Although... EVEN IN DEFEAT, Hopkins proved to doubters that he still has a number of fights left in him where he can still compete at a "championship" level. It is not a stretch whatsoever to say that Hopkins can beat Jermain Taylor in their rematch.
Now, Did I leave anything out?
Both sides have convincing arguements, but to say something like "Jermain Taylor will be confortable in the ring with Hopkins" is a joke.
you best believe its gonna be a hell of a rematch.. one
I have a feeling B-Hop is going to win because he knows now that he waited too long. In the later rounds he was dominating Taylor. Hopkins will win in the 10th round by TKO.
Taylor had nothing that bothered Hopkins. Hopkins looked as good at the end of the fight as he did at the beginning. What does that say about Taylor?
That just says that Taylor wasn't landing as much punches as most people think.
I think that Taylor/Hopkins showed that the fight is Hopkins' to win or lose. In his prime, Hopkins was in another league than Taylor and he just needs to dig a little deeper, at 40, to expose an over-rated figher.

Taylor made so many mistakes in that fight wide windmill punches, leaving himself open, pulling straight back... I was wondering why hopkins was not capitalizing as much as he could have.. he just gave away the first half of the fight!! And how could one of the judges give the last round to taylor, that's preposterous. Hopkins dominated rounds 9 to 12 easily. In a way though, hopkins deserves the loss for doing nothing in the first half of the fight.
Taylor is like a slower, less talented, less confident Roy Jones. He's quick, but not like Jones was, talented, but not like Jones was, confident, but not even close to being like Jones was.
Congratulations to Taylor for bringing the same luke warm feeling we have for the heavyweights, to the middleweight division.
He's overconfident. That's why he lost. And one thing i noticed, Taylor was bigger than him. If they rematch, Hopkins shouldn't wait for 9th round to throw all his weapons, he should draw first blood right from the very first bell.
i agree with this....
i think hopkins lost not because taylor beat him
he lost because of cockiness and overconfidence
this fight is going to be exactly like the Zab-Spinks fight. Bernard will KO him in the 6th round. Taylor looked and talked like a beaten fighter which means Bernard ate his Soul
That's quite possibly the dumbest thing I've ever heard...
Hopkins will win becuz cheerleaders who mastered the craft of nuthuggin will still be there to support his dirty ass fightin style and boring too. nyahahahaha. denials, SO MANY of em in BS!
Tayler will stop Hopkins in the rematch.

well hol up, didn't hopkins say weather he lsoes wins or draws, hes going to 175?
He's going to take the rematch. They have already stated that at the postfight press conference.
